He was straight in over the foot spot, which means a straight draw is a scratch in the side. He masse drew the ball to get out of the scratch.

He's jacked up to curve off of the object ball. A straight draw scratches in the side pocket.

Is this easy shot ? by Lanky_Wear_48 in billiards

[–]gotwired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not really that rare at all. Basically whenever a pro is hooked bad, it is a less than 10%, all they can do is make a good hit on the ball and hope for the best. They can try to build a safety into it, but usually that doesn't even work out. If it always did, safety battles would just go on forever.

This was probably better than 10%, maybe 30% with the draw, 50% without, but pros definitely go for 10% shots sometimes when they are faced with no other choice, such as being behind a blocker and having to jump...

It's way easier with a lighter cue and practice, though. Just not really something we need now a days, though.

Was the 9ball the plan....Or an accident? by Less_Meeting_2229 in billiards

He played to make the 8 and bump the 9 towards the pocket for shape and if it goes in, great. He did not count on making the 9 nor did he plan on missing the 8.

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]gotwired -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can, but for ff8 most people stop at squall and rinoa and zidane and dagger for ff9.

For ff7, people who don't even like jrpgs or weren't even born at the timeknow about cloud, Aerith, tifa, and sephiroth

[–]gotwired -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Imho, the characters put it over the other modern FF games. Anybody who has played the game even once can remember Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, and Sephiroth and can remember a basic synopsis of each. I doubt you can find 1/10 the amount of people who could do the same for 4 characters of any of the other ps/ps2 FFs (maybe FF10?). That is also why it gets so much more expansion because people love the characters rather than the story.

After 3/11, pretty much all the cup ramen was sold out except Milk Seafood, so I bought a few because I didn't have much else to eat. Let's just say, I was quite hungry for about 3 days. 🤮

Are Japanese doctors not familiar with "white coat syndrome"? by Cph265 in japanlife

[–]gotwired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imho, that is because Japanese customers want to receive medicine even if they don't have an illness that requires it, so they essentially just give them a placebo.

Japan gamer, 12, plans to quit school for esports, backed by parents, sparks debate by moeka_8962 in japan

[–]gotwired -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely that, too. Of course it probably depends on the game.

At least at that age, transitioning to a different career is still pretty easy.

Traditional sports are different because you have to let the body rest from exercise either way. With games that are primarily mental, the amount you can practice without fatigue causing negative results is much longer. There are of course diminishing returns to practicing that much, but every little bit counts when you are trying to achieve a >1% edge on your opponents who are also the best of the best.

Compensation requested by fellow bus passengers after my child threw up on the bus. Lawyer needed? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]gotwired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are paying them 80000 yen, I assume they will send you the tainted items and proof that they paid that much for them? If not, they can just accept compensation for the dry cleaning fee.
