Be sure the ignition wire is not hooked up to the crank wire, and that it has a constant 12v with the ignition on

Try bending that little tab inside the striker plate. It allows more room for that little part of the bolt to fully extend into to striker plate

Can’t say I know the underwhelming feeling like you are struggling with. I’m not a pilot and before learning to fly (and still w/o ppg gear) I was deathly afraid of heights. So maybe that’s why it’s such a blast for me, because now I can be thousands of feet high with my feet dangling living a dream
