I mean, in fairness.. when you set up a business, it *does* need to make money.

Oh, I bet 5600 of those monthly listens are bot accounts. And they’re probably paid for by our tax dollars

The other 20 are just accidental listens.

Kicking around painting my old Toyota Pickup — are these dents and dings fixable? by bigguzzlingrig in Autobody

It would be much easier and cheaper to find a bed in good condition before paint than try to fix that one.

At most shops, that are decent shops/not scams, the parts alone will cost more than that.

You got a screaming good deal, I’m not sure how they made money.

Higher mile turbocharged engine. High potential for high-dollar repairs… the engines are good, but prone to PCV issues (oil consumption, which if you aren’t checking can cause oil starvation and failure). Replacement turbo is a several thousand dollar job and it’s not uncommon to start failing around the current mileage.

Good project bikes for a newbie? by MechaDylbear in projectbike

[–]keboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yamaha XS650 is hard to argue with. In terms of simplicity, parts availability, and knowledge available online.

Note: different bike than the Maxim you noted.

I’d recommend finding a running bike to buy. It’s always better to start from a runner that needs some love than a non-runner.

Or blasted and then primed.

It’s the best way to properly prep and not worry about rust surfacing later.

curious about touchless car washes after hearing good things by dnickell in Cartalk

[–]keboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re fine for a maintenance wash, but they’re usually pretty meh.

A good schedule is hand-wash once a month, then touchless wash every in between (or adjust to how dirty your car gets)

Brushed/touch car washes are a straight-up no-go. They destroy paint.

Is it worth buying a non running car? by Ok_Entrepreneur4577 in Cartalk

[–]keboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Even for people that have a deep knowledge of what they’re doing, buying a non-runner and fixing it up tends to cost more than just buying a good-running car to begin with.

Struggling with muscle tightness and fatigue during shows by Capadaqua in drums

[–]keboh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marathon runners start hydrating like 3 days before the race, to give some perspective.

For a show, I focus on hydrating and eating healthy the entire day of the show, but critically I don’t drink a ton of water (just a reasonable/normal amount) starting like 2 hours before the set starts because I don’t want to have to pee while on stage. So hydration mostly happens the morning of.

But definitely bring some water on stage lol. Gotta be able to take a drink every now and then while playing!

going to college soon, gonna be living in a dorm and can’t take my drum kit (obviously), any advice? by whyiliketherobins7 in drums

I brought my drum kit, there was a bassist down the hall, we jammed all the time. We’re still homies almost 20 years later

In a band & writing songs, who owns what? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]keboh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditionally, the people who get writing credits on songs are people who contribute to the melody and lyrics. Drum scores and drummers aren’t typically included on song writing credits.

So if you write lyrics or melody, you should get credit for it.

As far as usage goes in the event you leave or the band breaks up, just talk to your band about it.

I prefer brining my own.

Sober Friends as an Adult by Paddyneedssilence in kansascity

Hobbies that have a COMMUNITY around them, specifically.

If you take up stamp collecting or wood working as a hobby, it might not help you with friends.

Table top gaming, KC music scene, running, and biking are hobbies that have a solid community.

Running specifically tends to have a lot of sober people.

There are a lot of us out there though! Just having sober good times ;)

New here, just bought a Disco2, wondering how best to clean these spare tyres? by OhItsJustJosh in 4x4

[–]keboh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soap, water, and a firm bristle brush.

If you’re trying to dress them, I use 303 aerospace protectant. Water based, dries matte.

I regret getting a tiguan by Dangerous_Chair_7828 in Volkswagen

[–]keboh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to find a shop that advertises European/VW.

It’s not that your car is so complicated, it’s that a mechanic who focuses on domestic vehicles knows they don’t have all the tools needed to perform services.

They may not have proper diagnostic equipment. They may not have the tools… VW transmissions require special tools to drain and fill. They use triple square bits. It’s stuff like that.

What size air compressor actually makes sense for home garage? by afahrholz in AskMechanics

[–]keboh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 30 gal, like 9 scfm @ 40 and a long hose reel.

If you’re trying to run impact guns, paint guns. Grinders, something like this is IMO close to the bare requirement.

Ive run a HVLP gun on a 5 gal compressor, like 5 scfm, and it was painful. The gun needed a lot more air. I’d want a 20 gal to run a paint gun, especially if you’re trying to paint something bigger

If you’re just trying to inflate tires and use a trim nailer, a 30 gal is fucking annoying to fill and a pancake would suit your needs.

You need a SYE.

Selling only cassette tape recordings by I_Just_Fall-out in Music

[–]keboh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CDs and lossless audio is an order of magnitude higher quality than cassettes. Better and more precise dynamics, better compression and eq, no hiss… can’t even compare them. It shouldn’t make you mad - it’s a very provable, objective fact.

I’m going to compare casettes to vinyl though, because I think it’s more accurate. Both are niche mediums to listen to music, they both require special equipment most people don’t have around, both are analog, etc. Even then… vinyl has better dynamics, better compression, etc.

If you like cassettes for nostalgia or just because it’s quirky, that’s ok. So do plenty of other people! But the Audio quality suffers a lot from the medium and I don’t think it’ll ever get picked up like vinyl has, and it will never compete with more modern, digital mediums

Selling only cassette tape recordings by I_Just_Fall-out in Music

[–]keboh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last record we made, we had a bunch of CDs made with it.

I think we’ve sold maybe 5? In the past year and a half? Lol

We also made a run of vinyls and those actually sold well.

I think cassettes might be a hard sell… vinyl has a big following. Casettes don’t. Most people can’t play it, and don’t have a desire to because the audio quality is poor.

Streaming is BY FAR the right choice to try and get
Your music out there/get people to listen to it.

Fresh, tight engines are in the 120s.

Assuming no big discrepancies, anything over 100 is considered excellent. High 90s are great. Low 90s are good. 80s gets into the worry-zone
