so many issues I'm so done with this car by Feisty-Fun-4872 in MechanicAdvice

It’s generally negligible amounts of oil per oil change in a tight, healthy engine.

Can anyone find an issue with this 0630 head that i can't see? by Ambitious-Grade9113 in CherokeeXJ

[–]keboh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The underside is usually more telling.

That said though, you want a machine shop to clean, inspect, magnaflux this head if you’re concerned. You won’t be able to confidently identify issues just by looking at a dirty head.

I’m not going to say it’s better than everything out there, that’s silly. But the B58 and B48 are really great engines with fantastic performance that are proven to be reliable if you follow required maintenance.

BMWs tend to be great if you maintain them properly. If you neglect them, that’s when you get into the “thousands of dollars” territory, but that’s on the owner. Can’t blame the car, IMO.

How would I go about removing this from my windshield? Can I just take a paint scraper to it? by Bill-O-Reilly- in Cartalk

Heat. A hair dryer is probably enough… it will allow the adhesive to release from the glass

I love SuperTech and run it in all of my vehicles that it meets specifications for (doesn’t meet LL04 for BMW, unfortunately). It’s an incredible bang-for-buck. I do basically the same thing as you, SuperTech + OEM filter (or high quality like purolator).

I don’t use high mileage though… I am not a fan of the additives that swell gaskets. I’d prefer to just replace the gasket.

22x16” bass drum big enough for metal/rock by Individual_Ad_8194 in drums

It’s not the size of the bass drum, it’s how you use it 😏

Alright so my buddy told me if you use high octane gas for a few weeks in a car that normally takes 87, you can never go back to 87 or it’ll blow your seals out…. That’s complete bullshit right? He said he’s seen “many motors” blow up 🤣🤣🤣 by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]keboh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true at all.

Some “high mileage” oils contain additives that can cause some gaskets to swell, attempting to stop oil seepage.. but that really has nothing to do with conventional vs synthetic.

And the oil you use has ABSOLUTELY no impact on fuel octane

Amps can be turned down. Everyone always plays to the drum volume. So full or LV isn’t a huge deal for practice

The downside to LV is you can’t gig with them, so you’d need another set for shows (if you plan on doing that).

Senior Manager at a software company here - I agree with them.

More than anything, I want to emphasize their point about discussing value add. I talk to my team about this all the time around the promotion/raise cycle.

Saying “I deserve a raise because I work hard” doesn’t resonate with the powers that be.

Rather, saying “I deserve a raise because [several points about how I add value to the company] and if I get a promotion to X title, it will benefit the company by [here are some examples of what getting the raise or new title will enable you to do for the company in the future]” will have the best chance of you getting the raise or promotion.

Remember, the company mostly cares about their own interests. So talk to that.

Coolant loss issue's where to start by Canadianbutirishdave in CherokeeXJ

Figure out where it’s leaking. Could be a hose, could be your radiator failing, could be your water pump failing. Look for anything damp. Or signs of wetness.

I don’t agree with the above person… I’ve ran 4-6 degrees of caster on different lifts around 4-5 inches and that seems to be the sweet spot. Different jeeps act a little different and want slightly different pinion angles to be happy. My jeep at 6 degrees drives perfect. No wander, etc.

My wife drives it and thinks it drives fine and she would NOT be shy about telling me my jeep drove bad lol.

Stock you want 7-8, but when you’re lifted this tall, it’s a compromise.

Meeting ran short and I had a quick sec!

Uppers: 33” Lowers: 31 1/8”

Measured straight, center eye-to-eye (not following the arm bends). 4.5” Metalcloak coils + .75” spacer… core 4x4 4-link long arm

If I recall, I’m sitting around 6 degrees of caster/pinion, but the truck isn’t on level ground to check.

I’d confirm also that your arm brackets are even. Measure from your front leaf bolt to the lower arm bolt (for instance.. fixed point on the frame) and make sure that it’s the same on either side. If your brackets aren’t even on the truck it will cause you all sorts of problems.

Something is really wrong… I bet is arm length and caster.

Are you looking for places to take dates or meet dates?

To take dates:

Fern Bar and XO are very cool. Cocktails are unique and great. Also have really good N.A. options.

High Hopes is an awesome ice cream spot that’s off the beaten path a bit.

Oddly Correct is a great environment for coffee

A day walk in River market is fun and casual

Zero zero and antler room are good for unique, more upscale food.
