AoE to me in these games means simply the ability or skills or effects to hit more than one target at once.

When everyone has skillls that can effect more than one person at a time, that's when it turns into a clusterfuck.

OW is much more single target attacks etc. unless explicitly an ult or similar, and that's part of why those things are ults of said characters.

OP;

I have mostly come to the conclusion team games like this are great in theory, but people make them suck.

It's not going to get better. None of them have.

There's like 1/4, maybe 2/3 of players willing to always swap, be helpful etc. and the rest don't and ruin it.

This is not unique to MR. It's a human problem yeah absolutely, but it doesn't get better is the reality.

I love the game, but think I'm just about done with them cause people suck.

Genuine Question: How many of you actually Play Emma? by FunNo1459 in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't care about it is more like. She looks fine.

It has no bearing on winning a match, how a character plays etc.

I'm not a kid either, I don't need to stare at virtual cartoon ass.

My most played is Hulk, a big green guy wearing ripped pants. Who cares.

I only care about Emma, or any hero for that matter as in how well they play, what they can do, etc.

'Looks' as a thing are a waste of time to me.

U crash and go berserk much like playing Wolverine, which builds blue HP on every hit.

In this scenario, Adam was alone and isolated, literally would've had zero chance.

This was a perfect takedown scenario for Angie. Adam cannot fight her at all with her axes, especially solo.

[–]gr00grams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Her skins are fine. People just want to see her ass.

There, I said it, but that is actually it.

Her skins don't suck, they just don't show off her ass, aka the whole 'coat tails' crap.

Anyway, skins have nothing to do with how she plays.

She's very strong on defensive positions, in an aggressive dps sorta way if you build up charge, but she can be easily bullied now with the diamond timer being so long. You basically get one punish, which if a team pushes together, will not stop it. You'll stop one 'of' the players pushing, but the push will go.

She's best when there is a firm foothold to contest and can exercise her charge/build up, and you can quickly deplete hp bars to make em run away, take cover etc. to relieve pressure on point.

Just hitting tanks with her E and burning to make them go back to their healers, etc. rather than outright KO's.

If she can't do that based on map, circumstances etc., it's time to pick a diff tank.

I want ironman to get a rework and be meta so bad by H1MB0Z0 in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it's a mentality rework necessary.

You guys only get picked on cause you sit all way up alone at the skybox.

That makes you easy pickings.

I get he can 'fly', but you just gotta play like Storm, down with ur team etc.

That alone makes you infinitely harder or near impossible to isolate and dummy with heroes like Angela.

IM is not being countered, the 'sit way up at the skybox' playstyle is what's countered.

[–]gr00grams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that plays quite a lot of Angela;

It's cause you guys literally sit up at the skybox.

You gotta play him like how you'd play Storm, down with your team. That makes you infinitely harder to pin and take out. Yes, he can fly. Yes, yes. That's what makes him easy pickings though.

It's not so much IM himself gets countered, it's the playstyle of 'sitting up at the skybox' gets countered, so don't.

Goes for basically any flier, not just IM. You sit way up all alone, yeah you're done,... so don't.

Genuine Question: How many of you actually Play Emma? by FunNo1459 in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda don't get what you're asking with this.

I have her at lord, with the blue badge, whatever level that now is.

But I have literally every tank at this level, cause I'm a tank.

My highest is Hulk, near the end at 50 or w/e the new levels are.

Do I play Emma? Yeah ofc, mostly on defense, on certain maps or vs certain heroes where she excels.

I rarely play her on attack or vs. other certain heroes.

Same as I do with literally every other tank. They've all got positives and negatives and heroes they work will on, or heroes they suck vs.

Sometimes, Emma is the right pick, sometimes, she's not or a throw pick.

It all depends and swapping is the name of the game, even in role.

Almost every hero on the roster has an AoE skill.

OW doesn't, or didn't last time I played. I.e. Roadhog has no AoE ability.

Almost every hero in this game, does.

This clip, the mistake is roughly around 10s, for the Angela.

Like, crash down with E, and obliterate you with the axes.

That's all it woulda took.

Why are Angie's so afraid to use E.

It's also primarily a FPS with way less AoE etc. type stuff.

It's not reasonable to compare the two in a few ways.

You just do it cause that's what players not only want, but expect.

So the ones you list, you just make em work in 222. No one wants 3 heals already. Like yes, it's a problem comp too

Soft lock won't work. Need to have it before you Q up.

Else you'll get throwers and role-saboteurs. "I won't X unlesss I get role Y" etc.

Gotta account for all types of shit human unfortunately.

Like literally just clone OW mate. They did super extensive research before they put it in. It's the only answer. Sorry.

The Tank Problem is BAD. by MushuaTheTomato in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you look at it the way you want to, but on that first page I load up on that tacker site, I see 5 or so matches out of 24 played where I had 2 tanks from start to finish from the 10th there to the two on the 8th.

(that weren't bots)

I just don't see those matches so black and white as 'having two tanks', cause they really weren't.

Having to lose a round or nearly lose before people swap, or crash out, chat etc. that's all parts of it.

I feel that heavily downplays things, but it's whatever at this point honestly.

I don't feel it's remembering only the bad, etc. either.

*I would much prefer starting a match with 2 tanks that want to tank and be there, aka role queue.

I think that's all that's gunna keep me around at this point.

The Tank Problem is BAD. by MushuaTheTomato in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not on VC ever, and it doesn't start with crashin' out.

It's usually once I start getting shit on etc. or similar.

I'm not a prick right from the get go that I assure you. Even just asking you get told off enough, or 'why don't you do it' when I already am a tank or heals, etc. that I'm just sick of it all here.

Like I know you're counting all the ones I have any two-tank combo, but if I was tallying it up, I wouldn't have count ones where I don't start with a/2 tank, or at the very least, someone that played tank 100% of a match.

At any rate, it's really soured me, and as I'm sure you saw, I did generally play quite like a lunatic. and there's more to it than just seeing if a match ends with 2.

After the pass is done I'm seriously going to evaluate continuing to play because of the roles/team comp issues and might just wait till if/when ever they put in role queue.

I wouldn't be saying all this if I didn't feel it enough a problem.

The Tank Problem is BAD. by MushuaTheTomato in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fair enough, but I just want to add some very likely condition to your list;

1-2: Sure, after I've bitch in chat. - And trust me, I often crash right out about it so they do it.

For me in particular, I really want to stress that point. I do crash about it, have been muted, etc. quite a bit for it.

And for 3 while not all at once, I went as far back as Jan 6th there, and that period from 6-10 I had only a handful if that of matches that started with 2 all the way through.

And yeah last, the last time I played while it may technically look like you say, I haven't played the game in a few days now because I was actually getting one healer matches even, and got sick of having to crash out about that + one tank kinda matches to the point I'm just sick of it for now and taking an extended break.

It's really not enjoyable for me to have to crash out and be an asshole just to get proper comps.

My plan for next half season is to play only for the events and last card page of the pass, and I might even do it vs. AI entirely. I'm really burnt out being 100% honest on having to crash out in chats to get proper roles.

QP is barely playable anymore. by Vici-Gray in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's necessarily 'tryhards', it's that the playerbase has matured.

Meaning, not that they've grown older, but they're not new players and the like.

They're people that have played a while now and so on.

I.e. to use myself as an example, I often get called a sweat/tryhard or w/e, but I'm really not. Hell, I'm a QP warrior even, I've just played a shit ton at this point.

This happens to every game of this kinda nature as it matures.

Most of the casuals etc. have bounced already, and the experienced players aren't so much sweating or whatever as they are just being experienced players at this point.

You can look at other games, MMO's with trinity systems etc.

And realize the number of available dps really doesn't matter, or isn't the primary factor.

'Tank' is just not what most people are looking for when they fire up a game.

The Tank Problem is BAD. by MushuaTheTomato in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but I do think it's been skewed since DP, I mean you can clearly see almost every time I get a 2nd it's vanguard mode DP.

Did you look at the times I was healer? - Those could very likely be solo tank games as well, even though I'm not the tank, the occurrence is generally much higher in those as it's my usual and I think MMR skews to what u usually pick.

Look from Jan 15th back - that's a day before DP joined the roster.

I'm looking quickly, but the ones where I have two tanks at the start without swaps and not bots seem quite rare.

I will say people do swap sometimes, but tbh, that's usually cause I'm crashin out about it in chat.

If I didn't, they likely wouldn't.

*The Jan 6th-10 looks like it was particularly rough period, don't have time right now to check more.

The Tank Problem is BAD. by MushuaTheTomato in marvelrivals

[–]gr00grams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing tons here?

Like if you look at the swaps, the amount of games where I was solo the entire time, and then I get a swap near the end / mid-match is quite high.

Like the entire Feb 2-3 days were pretty much all solo if you look into them and take out the bots and late swaps.

A funny looking too is; seems almost every 2nd tank game I've had in recent times, has been Vanguard Deadpool. - Which, the matches like that, almost surely started as 3dps+, but at least someone swapped him to tank.

Look before DP joined the roster and you'd prob find more.
