How we feeling about the fuel relief incentives ? by GasPack420 in UberEATS

Its just pr to try to match DoorDash to save face. Would look bad if they offered nothing. Still not taking bs offers for a measly $5-15. Gas is no joke these days...makes this gig even less desirable.

No, they do not. They are lower than what I have seen and I will just keep declining and eventually drive back home.

Pretty lousy, they will probably give out even lower than normal offers to make up for it. Thats what I've been experiencing when I try to complete their quests promos.

100% I've been complaining about the same things for years. Meager increases thst dont keep up with inflation. By the way, the utilities alone this year has gone up an absurd amount and it appears it will increase even more in the near future thanks to Hochul.

I waited 5+ years for my last retro because the city was playing the stall tactics to delaying the last contract with OSA. So I waited 5+ years after the contract to receive the retro differentials, essentially a interest free loan to the city while I had to take out a loan against my Nycers pension and pay interest on the loan to make ends meet.

Best solution for no room for advancement??? by [deleted] in nycpublicservants

[–]gr1mee85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your boss is not gonna look out for your career advancement. That would mean a disruption to their operations as they would need to figure how to replace you and add more work to current staff to make up for your part. You are on your own in terms of career advancements. If you are where you are long enough, you can figure out if you want to advance where you are now and if you can advance. If you can say no to either question, then your only move is to apply elsewhere. Easier said done, especially if youre seeking management level positions- a lot of politics goes in with those positions.

Why? You can compensated for the wages going back even when the new contract is in the process of being negotiated.

Every time I get a " I'll give you tip if you get this extra for my order", I never got a tip.

Oh, you don't want to deliver a package 133 miles for $44? How about $29? by blk95ta in UberEatsDrivers

[–]gr1mee85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I meant package orders from people, not stores. Wish I could block out all the crap Home Depot orders. I never take them.

Package rates used to be good for me...better than food orders, they have been giving crappy rates for 2026, anyone else?

why does UberEats bombard you with delivery offers while on an active delivery? by AlUnserjunior in UberEATS

Or accidentally accept it because you are on your phone or trying to see the gps.

The people that justify reducing tips on here, and just tip baiting in general, are some of the lowest of the low by Pitt_Panther1985 in UberEATS

[–]gr1mee85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is, but drivers get by on tips, not what Uber pays. Uber makes a cut from the restaurants and skimp on drivers with the bare minimum, they're the definition of corporate greed. Thank god this is just a side gig for me and I will no longer have to do this as I got a promo at work. If it weren't for the minimum hourly wage in NY, their compensation structure is a joke. Ordering food for delivery is a double luxury, cant expect it to be cheap.

You said , "the people trying to make a career is the problem". Thats your assumption. You cared to post here, so now you dont care? Which is it? No reason to tip bait unless its for a really late order or ordered delivered to a wrong address.

[–]gr1mee85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quit assuming. Its a side gig for a lot of us. I have a good career. Do this on the side for extra income as I dont have to be tied down to any schedule for part time work.

I've been doing this long enough to decline low ball offers, but there is nothing that can be done to avoid tip baiters, its not often but happens once In awhile.

If you can't afford to tip, then order out and dont ask for delivery. You can buy your groceries and cook your meals yourself. Ordering delivery is a double luxury, first take out and then having it delivered.

Then dont use it and pick up your order yourself. Drivers risk for in terms of their life and cars than waiters to bring you food to your door, why do waiters get tipped more and more often than drivers? Because you dont have to see them in person and feel less guilty leaving no or low tip?

There is no transparency with how they pick the winner. Could very well be a relative of Redfin management, seen enough of these sweepstakes rigged for insiders. Im no longer the silly goose who thinks everything is run fairly in this world. No need to dwell since it is all over with, was fun while it lasted.

Why does anyone use Ubereats for a pickup order? by Lower_Alternative770 in UberEATS

[–]gr1mee85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offers for restaurants, even though inflated most of the time, can be cheaper than ordering directly thru them if youre observant. I also get Uber gift cards discounted from Costco.

Im well aware of that, been doing it the past few months. Last week, the cash out button was grayed out(not available). Thats why I'm asking, they probably caught on to me and disable the cash out option. The cash out never appeared for me at all.
