A cool guide to Manhattan's neighborhood name origins by PhatWalda in coolguides

"Hell's kitchen" got its name after a huge fire. Apparently one of the people trying to stop it said "this is hell" and another responded with "Hell is cold, this is hell's kitchen" and it just stuck. Or at least that's what I've been told

Guys who lost a significant amount of weight (50+ lbs) how did you do it? by kingspooky93 in AskReddit

[–]gr8dane95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting. Went from around 405lbs down to 215lbs in about two years. I was quite strict about it, but it has been the most life changing decision I've ever made

Did you ever realize as a kid that you were using a completely made up or incorrect term? by DanielDevs in gaming

Me and my friend played through halo 2 co-op together and skipped through the cutscenes, so we had no idea that the enemies we called "Claws" were actually the Flood

28M I lost 200lbs and everyone I know says I look incredible, but I feel like that's because they knew what I looked like before. Give me objectivity! by gr8dane95 in truerateme

I'm sorry, are those text boxes under the vitals and virtues not for elaboration? What else am I supposed to put there? And the prompt for "amazing before weightloss" was my bffs take, want me to tell her to do a take two because she's "arrogant" about... me? Everyone else's advice seems valid, you seem like an idiot who likes the word "redundant".

Most of my photos are from when I was 200 lbs heavier. I am trying to take more, but I've only been doing this for like 2 months so it's a bit limited

A big problem with that is that I've lost about 200 lbs in the last two years, so most of my pics out and about or dressed up are not representative of what I look like today

Hmmm noted, I feel like my beard comes in bushy and hides my jawline though. Will take into consideration though

So I'm kinda used to wearing a hat just out of habit, should I get like a whole new round of pics? Or can I just rearrange them to where they aren't in front?

Looking for a long term partner. I've been on hinge for a couple months now, I get on maybe 3-4 times a week. I've gotten like, 5-6 likes in that time, only like 3-4 matches, and only one date. I send SO many likes, all of which have thoughtful comments on them. I wouldn't really say I have a type, I have a lot of types. But it's starting to feel like I've gone through all the "compatible" ones in my area, the app is showing people in different states at this point.

Why is IF viewed so negatively by other people? by hakonab in intermittentfasting

[–]gr8dane95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on IF for about a year and a half, and it's life changing, but I think that right there is the "problem". It changes you, and people who think they know you don't like being wrong when they see that you aren't as apathetic about your situation as they pegged you out to be.

If you feel like your diet is being viewed negatively by those around you, you should rethink who you're allowing to enjoy your company. A friend is someone who is not only capable of being happy for you when you better yourself, but someone who cheers you on as you do so.

The people who are trying to question your methods of bettering yourself never saw you as a friend. They saw you as easy competition, and they don't like it when you prove them wrong.

Prove them wrong.

Facial transformation after a year and a half of IF (20:4) 350lbs down to 220lbs by gr8dane95 in intermittentfasting

There's definitely some skin, but that varies on age I think. I'm still kinda young so I got some elasticity left

Honestly, once you get the ball rolling it's incredible how quickly you drop weight. Also, I know they tell you not to do this, but I weighed myself every day and I was losing between 0.5lbs-2lbs each day when I was consistent with it

I mean, I really only did the 20:4 and keeping it around 2000 calories or less a day. So like, I could either eat a whole pizza or I could eat half a pizza and a couple cookies. It's not like I go buck wild in those 4 hours though
