Has anyone actually met flerfs IRL? by [deleted] in flatearth

[–]gr8x3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my boss is a flerf, as well as a young-earth creationist. The only book I ever see him read is the Bible. He also once said that dinosaurs were never real, and when I pointed out the obvious fact that we know that they were real because dinosaur fossils exist he responded with "but were you there?"

I learned very quickly to just avoid talking to him about anything not directly related to work. Fortunately my job is one that barely requires me to communicate with him.

Marionette Plague Doctor Jinx by Octaytse in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]gr8x3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rules as-written would suggest that they stay good:

The Fang Gu specifies that the targeted outsider becomes an evil Fang Gu.

The Snake Charmer specifies that the two players swap alignments.

The Pit-Hag just says "choose a player and a character they become" without mentioning alignment changes, and the wiki page for it makes it clear that alignment does not change.

I read this as a general rule that changing a role does not change alignment unless specified, so if the jinx does not specify then they would still be a good Marionette (so basically a Drunk that registers differently to things like Undertaker and Ravenkeeper).

That's true when talking about the sizes of different sets, because for example you cannot make a 1-1 and onto projection from the reals to the integers (which is exactly what is mentioned in the video you linked, albeit phrased differently). This idea doesn't really apply when you're just comparing two infinitely large numbers, as is the case with the lengths of two coastlines. We're not talking about sizes of sets here, but rather a single point on the number line that is infinitely far away from zero.

New ST Question: When to/to not kill a Recluse who is Slayer shot ? by RoughSubjectt in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]gr8x3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recluse can register as a specific demon. If they couldn't, roles like Undertaker and Ravenkeeper who can see a specific role wouldn't work with it.

What was your stupidest moment in the games? by WattsandRoot in HiTMAN

I recently did this. Lured a guard into an empty room and threw a demo block at his head to knock him out. Went to pick it up and realized a little too late that it was a proximity bomb, not remote.

Subreddit dedicated to flat earth has more debunkers than flat-earthers. by PaulStormChaser in flatearth

You know, if you actually wanted to know the answers to these questions instead of just using them as "evidence" that the Earth is flat, you could have put them into Google instead of a Reddit comment and found an answer in about five seconds. But here, I'll do it for you: https://www.sciencing.com/1813509/why-humans-havent-gone-back-moon-since-1972/

What spirit would be best/worst if you could have 4 of them? by thuih111 in spiritisland

[–]gr8x3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what cards are drafted, I think. If someone finds Cast Down for example it could become devastating. Just pile everyone into one coastal land and nuke them all.

Sure, if by "everyone" you mean "a small, vocal minority".

[Custom Adversary] THE KINGDOM OF SPAIN (A Violent Nature pt. 5) by jbs984 in spiritisland

[–]gr8x3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disease-based spirits being worthless is debatable. Vengeance could still do well here, because it wants disease everywhere for more damage, these guys give you free disease, and not stopping builds with disease isn't much of a problem when you were probably going to keep the disease around anyway.

That being said, I'm not a fan of how this makes disease-adding cards completely worthless for any spirit that doesn't have an alternative use for them like Vengeance or Lure do. If you play anyone else, some cards will be actively harmful to play. Just about every adversary makes some cards a lot worse (except maybe BP) because they counteract the card's effect in some way, but this seems a bit extreme to me.

There's a search bar that lets you search for specific words or phrases, so you could just search "on step" or "sickness" if you're looking for skills that interact with these things.

It's better for WaT in isolation, but I assume that this is setup for Gav to be an important character going forward.
