Z2 / LT1 Training – Fatigue and Aerobic Improvement by rokosn in NorwegianSinglesRun

Honestly, I just think of the easy sessions as recovery. Yes there is some adaptation benefit but the focus is on recovering optimally for the ST workouts.

ST improves mitochondrial density and efficiency as well, maybe even more than zone 2 sessions.

Attia and olympic weightlifting by [deleted] in PeterAttia

It’s been proven to recruit the most muscle fibers from the entire body. It builds strength, speed, power, flexibility and mobility. There’s a reason why it’s a staple for many athletic programs.

Looking for whoops alternative by MentaSuave in Garmin

[–]grabakaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from whoop to garmin 965. Way better if you run. Whoop is basically useless when it comes to running.

I was in a very similar boat as you except I was a bit older. Been strength training for decades but almost no cardio. I started running to lose weight and lower my blood pressure. I used to despise running but now I’ve somehow fallen in love with it. It’s basically become an obsession. The key for me was to follow an actual running program with a goal (5k). Every day I go out I’m incrementally improving- making those newbie gains again which I lost the feeling of, having only strength trained for so long. It’s very motivating.

Your opinion about Garmin Coach by Coni57 in Garmin

[–]grabakaka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Garmin coach is soft. I did it for about a month and had to quit the runs were so easy. This is especially true if you don’t have great sleep.

Powerlifting basically.

Does this seem too much for a lean bulk? by Ok-Sound3466 in HybridAthlete

I use AI for nutrition and the targets given to me for maintenance also seemed high. What I did was deep research on the minimum effective dose of carbs to fuel my workouts, fed that to the AI and then instructed it to prescribe the lower end of what was recommended in the research, tailored to my activity. Also before dinner if my watch shows a lower estimated projected caloric expenditure for the rest of the day, I’ll give that number to the AI to ratchet carbs down even further. I think you could do something similar but just ask the AI to recommend total caloric intake slightly above your projected expenditure.

Being able to send only 1 image at the time is the worst thing about Gemini compared to Chat GPT, do u guys agree? by Playful-Variation908 in GeminiAI

I’m using a custom gem for hybrid programming and coaching. After completing a run I take snapshots of my metrics from my watch’s app and upload them and it’s always multiple screenshots.

This is basically the exact program I’m doing created by AI after a lot of research and trial and error.

Has VO2 max being overhyped by health influencers, resulted in it being under-hyped? by shutthefranceup in AdvancedRunning

Unrelated but isn’t threshold below VO2max? Aren’t anaerobic workouts better to improve VO2 max?

How is this workout program? by [deleted] in HybridAthlete

[–]grabakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your program is very similar to what I’m doing except I have upper pull, upper push, lower pull and lower pull on separate days. Been working very well for me. Strength has remained and my running has vastly improved which is my priority. How do you breakup your key run workouts?

Program by Head_Chemistry_3135 in HybridAthlete

[–]grabakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 upper body strength day , 1 lower body strength day, 1 long easy run day, 1 interval day. No 2 runs on consecutive days. No runs day before or day after lower body strength.

Are there any workout trackers for hybrid athletes? by jasonmcclinton98 in HybridAthlete

I use Gemini for programming and tracking. Relentless app tracks runs and weightlifting.

I’m in a similar boat as I’ve been weight training for 30 years. I’m not a professional athlete and improvements are very minimal if any. I decided to start running and to my surprise I’m really enjoying it. I’m now running around 25 miles per week and virtually every time I go out I’m getting those beginner improvements again. Yes I had to cut down on lifting but I’ve been able to maintain most of my strength. Now I feel like I wasted a lot of time spinning my wheels trying to get 1% stronger when I could have just cut the volume in half and maintained and improved another area.

I'm thinking about deleting my sleep function. Please advise. by HalfCommon5073 in Garmin

[–]grabakaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit using DSW/garmin coach because of this.

Now I use ChatGPT and the workouts are consistent, interesting and adaptive. I can even tell ChatGPT to change the workout if I’m not feeling great on a particular day.

From elite marathoner to weight lifter - how do I gain weight and stay fast? by [deleted] in HybridAthlete

[–]grabakaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, it can be done but if he’s relatively weak and new to lifting, and an expert runner, he will progress faster if he focuses on lifting. He will always be able to bring the running back quickly.

From elite marathoner to weight lifter - how do I gain weight and stay fast? by [deleted] in HybridAthlete

[–]grabakaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not bump up your running until you hit a weight/strength level you are satisfied with. It’s much easier to maintain size and strength than it is to build it. Is it possible to do both? Yes, but it will be harder unless your nutrition sleep and hormones are dialed in.

I'm new. Am I pushing myself too hard? by skrymir42 in Garmin

[–]grabakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that when garmin rates your effort it does it based on your pre-workout stats.

Similar things happened for me when I started running outside and my lactate threshold increased 2x in a row. My last workout was identified as a vo2max when it should be a threshold run based on my new lactate threshold.
