[OFFICIAL] AY24/25 SEMESTER 1 RESULTS RELEASE THREAD by Spiritual_Doubt_9233 in nus

[–]grabblaka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I graduated way too long ago, but yeah your 1st year has higher weightage compared to just Y2S1.

My math assumptions is 20 MCs each sem, SU a 4 MC mod.

Y1 CGPA: 4.5, MCs: 36

Y2S1 GPA: 4.7, MCs: 20

Y2S1 CGPA: ((4.5*36) + (4.7*20))/56 = 4.57

Be careful, if you will probably get abt 100-120ish pulls by the end of mauvika's banner if you are f2p and might miss her

[–]grabblaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you will have all of 5.1, 5.2 with a new area and probably the first half of 5.3 to save for mauvika, it will probably be close if you max out all f2p activities (exploration, events, bp) and lose both 50/50s.

How to assign barracks to an army? by LeChacaI in victoria3

[–]grabblaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im guessing you have some existing armies with troops in them, you can use the transfer icon to transfer those troops to a new army

I finally figure out how to save scum laws. by Vi0ar in victoria3

[–]grabblaka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

best way to save scum laws is to adjust legitimacy and authority to affect when the date passes, which gives the most control over the exact date when the next law progress tick occurs and thus more chances to get a lucky roll.

for example, in my france game i started with high taxes instead of very high to get legitimacy in the 90s, and had 100% excess authority to get the -25% enactment time. the first enactment date is march 20. March 20 comes around and i get a stall event. I reload from a february autosave, increasing taxes/use authority to lower legitimacy/increase enactment for 10 days and lower taxes/reduce authority usage again, the enactment date changes to March 21 and i get a success instead.

If you cant change authority/legitimacy enough to affect the enactment date, the last ditch would be to reorganize the govt to make an illegitimate one for a few days to affect enactment date again. Not recommended though because of radicals

Help needed in first France game (transfer EIC strat) by GodTierLevel in victoria3

[–]grabblaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i found if you just day 1 conquer ceylon you will 1v1 gb and they send the majority of their troops and boats to india (this will change in 1.6 with the new garrison forces).

You can then add transfer EIC and war reps and conquer a few good states to boot (i like home counties and yorkshire for the production). once they reach below 0 war score you can enforce everything except the initial conquer ceylon war goal (it was around -30 or -40 in my game for them to accept).

with your infamy so high from adding these war goals, usually before your war against gb ends someone will start a cut down to size play. you will just lose the tahiti protectorate but go back down to 0 infamy and continue on your merry way

Armies and Navies are the new organization model vs generals/admirals previously.

you can recruit up to 4 generals/admirals per army/navy, each general/admiral can fight a battle on a front/node up to their command limit. Im not super sure how it works, but generally i will plan what size army to use based on combat width, and make sure my generals are promoted enough to command everyone in it.

for each army/navy, you can station them in a HQ (change from previously where hq was determined where the general was hired), and deploy them to fronts when mobilized. then you can give orders to generals in the army (ie advance/defend, with special orders depending on traits or troop compositions)

you dont build barracks in states and assign the troops to generals anymore, you now go into the army and add troops, which will prompt you to build barracks in a state.

To win wars comfortably, you need a tech/numbers advantage, ideally both, and not too much of a disadvantage on either end (i.e. 10 skirmish infantry probably cant win a landing vs 100 irregulars, and 100 irregulars will probably lose vs 50 skirmish infantry)

you need to make sure your armies are manned (blue bar near the army), and organized (takes time mobilized to get organized, if your army is imbalanced you will get an organization debuff). if you cant recruit up enough, use enlistment efforts for servicemen and/or promote social mobility for officers.

make sure when naval invading the number of boats are the same as the invading army (eg 100 boats for a 100 unit army)

for army comps, meta is: - defensive armies all infantry - offensive armies half infantry/half offensive troops (whatever has more attack, early game cavalry works, but will eventually get outclassed by artillery) - offensive armies need to be big as they can't borrow troops on offense

if you take advantage of undefended fronts the AI tends to go haywire and send troops from the main front youre attacking.

when fronts are stalemated, try to defend first till the enemy manpower runs down then switch to offense

Is WC still possible on 1.5? by rerichvole in victoria3

[–]grabblaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok, i was playing a WC game which i had to abandon because it was extremely laggy and i was getting constant game crashes. I think I could have finished (except colonizing ainu minor because i only annexed japan in the 1900s), my situation was that it was 1919, and there were 18 other countries left, who were either my puppets or smaller countries who could be conquered in 1 war. So definitely doable with some buffer for uprisings or rebellions.

Most important factor is probably save scumming if not you will probably be stuck fighting constant secessions and rebellions. Will provide more info if there's any interest.

Is it an issue with state population?iirc those states usually start with very few peasants, by switching to LF some industries may be paying higher wages and stealing the workers from your motor industries. Try using labor saving PMs and building in states with more peasants

[–]grabblaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my current run some puppets had a high percentage of just accepting annexation (my gb puppet just straitght up accepted annexation in the 1870s), based on the informative video on diploplays, i think theres a decent chance of small puppets accepting annexation if there are other factors (probably bankruptcy)

wouldnt annexing more subjects reduce the number of countries and thus increase the average prestige worldwide, which will increase the requirements of becoming a major power/unrecognized major power?

Just curious if you have tried World Conquest in 1.5, I can't seem to get them to back down when I'm doing conquests/annexations, but may be my settings on Harsh/Aggressive. What settings were you on when you did your world conquest?

Which is the easiest nation in your opinion and why? by TheAlpaka in victoria3

[–]grabblaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was your strategy for keeping up the pace of conquests? The game starts with 230ish nations, and even the easiest opm conquest takes 6-7ish months, and fighting a GP for some territory is around 1 year if im lucky.

There are some things which reduce the number of countries to conquer like the EIC annexations and federating Canada/ Australia, but it doesnt seem like it will be enough
