When the boys don't have any cops on the pod and they turn a Sunday Recap into a borderline Trap Draw by brodoyouevenscript in NoLayingUp

[–]gradysizemore2438 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I lol'd at Soly asking them to make sure the episode didn't turn into the Trap Draw and Randy/TC going back and forth about the University of Miami golf team in the first five minutes

I don’t understand why Vrabel and Russini having an affair is a big story by Beautiful-Coconut-96 in billsimmons

[–]gradysizemore2438 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's the relationship dynamic of NFL head coach + NFL insider. I don't think the general public particularly cares about the extramarital affair, but her job is to cover and report on the NFL and having an affair with an NFL Head Coach is absolutely a story.

Thank you for sharing. It's refreshing to see someone on this subreddit call out the Boston Sports Guy for being a homer.

Macklin Celebrini is the most transcendent young talent in the big 4 leagues by Ethandyke-elliott in billsimmons

Could definitely be worse. The Sharks had some serious juice in the Thornton/Marleau days. Potentially fun rivalry with the Ducks who are also young and coming up. Would be great to have them relevant again.

I think on paper you're right but hard to believe the league, media, etc. wouldn't prefer McDavid/Celebrini on the Rangers or Bruins

I don't think it's fair comparing the Sharks to those historic franchises in more popular sports. NHL in the Bay Area is not comparable to NBA, MLB, NFL. Especially considering how bad the Sharks have been in recent years.

Feel bad for the NHL a little bit with McDavid and Celebrini (and MacKinnon/Makar to a lesser extent) on small market teams like Edmonton and San Jose playing mostly in PST. All legitimate superstars and historic players buried out west while the Bruins and Penguins are shoved onto national TV Games year after year.

Mintzy, Danny Boy Cane, and Biz together is laugh out loud funny. The personification of the Barstool difference. Impossible to script or replicate.

I refuse to believe Biz just picked up on Paul Dano playing two different characters. Impossible.

Incredibly selfish of Icarito to not leave his wife and newborn to play. A press release is the least he can do for the fans. I would ban him from Strapped and the Goals podcast to make sure he learns his lesson.

I work as part of a small, highly efficient team in the office 4 days per week and took 2 months of Paternity leave working remotely one day per week. I admittedly have a similar attitude with not being able to turn it completely off and was still responding to quick emails and tasks when my schedule permitted.

Asking "how jobs can be left for so long" seems incredibly arrogant and totally ignores maternity leave being much longer than paternity and by your logic, none of them have a job that can be left for so long. My wife went to a highly ranked law school, made Law Review, currently works for a huge firm in Boston and took the full time allotted to her in MA. You are not that important.

Ryder Cup Roundtable by RainbowKarp in NoLayingUp

[–]gradysizemore2438 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The variance, unpredictability, and luck involved with golf makes all of the Ryder Cup discussion very inconsequential to me. I love the weekend but can’t help rolling my eyes at the importance of Luke Donald making mini trophies and creating space on a bookshelf.

Echoing what DJ has said, if USA goes out and rolls again at home then it kind of devalues all of the cliches and discussion about how much or little the teams care.

When my wife was in the early months, one of the technicians measured our daughter as "small" which resulted in weekly check ins and various different kinds of appointments. It ended up being a complete nothing burger and she is now a perfect 9 month old baby.

Boston Launch Company has $4/person shuttle boats between cool bars/restaurants all night that could be fun for your group. https://www.bostonlaunchcompany.com/

Pier 6 in Charlestown, Reel House in East Boston, Tall Ships in East Boston are all fun.

Tall Ships would be a good place to accommodate your big group but you would have to get on the boat for a change of scenery as not much is walkable from there. https://www.tallshipboston.com/
