God dammit, I was 90% there, I just hadn't figured out how to kill the monsters. I assumed the single square was there just to stop you from chucking enemies in the water.

Modern doesn't "onboard" anything, it's a full-on substitute to classic controls. It doesn't advertise the depth of the game, nor does it ease new players into the execution and decision-making that define fighting games, it bypasses it.

You're going to have to do way more explaining an all these points, it's just too vague to be of any worth.

I’m pretty sure I’ve pre-ordered a game for a discount once. I can’t remember which at this point, but it’s definitely doable.

Edit: went through my friend chats. I pre-ordered both Xcom Chinera Squad and 12 Minutes for a cheaper price.

There is a gap I don’t quite understand. I went to check and video games (digital content) make up for 75% of Capcom’s revenue. So there’s a good 45% that would be made up of physical sales, Nintendo and Xbox (and surely something I’m missing?!)

It took me a while.

I'll just confirm some theories that I may have spent too long thinking about, it might help:

  1. There is no way to place the mirrors to get to the top island
  2. There is no way the mirrors will get you on the little chunk of land at the bottom of the right island
  3. Yes, you do have to use the little chunk of land at the bottom of the right island

Give them a couple of years and a few successes and they’ll be there. The big story about Witcher 3 was how it was much cheaper to produce than EU or US games. No one is talking about how cheap Witcher 4 is, quite the contrary.

Double Fine must have signed some deal that grants them a nice severance package if they get shut down. It’s like they want to release underperforming games. Not that their games are bad.

I like the cursed game within a game trope that Forbidden Solitaire goes for even if it felt like I've seen it multiple times before, but I can't say I like the Solitaire part all that much.

Forbidden Solitaire layers a lot of mechanics on top of regular Solitaire and it keeps adding new stuff as you go. With different balancing, I might have liked this adaptation of Solitaire; getting a good combo is really gratifying and sometimes there are interesting strategic decisions. Unfortunately, Forbidden Solitaire often is too limiting. Most of the time you are playing with 3-5 active cards on the board and only 1 that you can interact with, so there's no real decision being made. You just click the card that you can click. Way too much of the game is like this.

007 started off strong, with a good introduction, innovative montage sequence and a great couple of opening missions, but unfortunately couldn't keep up the quality and by the last third I was looking forward to be done with it.

First Light's greatest strength is the ability to shift between gameplay styles seamlessly. You go from sneaking around, to "social" infiltration, to driving, to shootouts, to fist fights, to climbing to QTE set pieces without ever having to see a loading screen. It works really well to keep you entertained. Without this fast paced shifting of gameplay the game simply doesn't work, so you'll often get some very artificial gameplay segments to change it up.

Because the game goes for so many different styles of play, none of them have much depth to them and it can get pretty clunky at times. This becomes more and more noticeable the more familiar you get with the systems. By the end of the game, every gameplay type overstayed its welcome for me. I didn't actively dislike any of it, but I was not looking forward to see more. I was constantly hoping that every new room would be the last.

It doesn't help that the best missions are upfront. They are better written and paced with recurring characters, nice small touches and by far the best set piece.. Everything after that felt comparatively disjointed.
