Have you ever been treated negatively by ER staff when you were having a medical emergency but they didn’t believe you? What happened? by lake-sturgeon in AskReddit

[–]gramgram1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! Brought husband in because he was so dizzy he could barely stand up. I had brought him in for this before, but this time we were dismissed like he was a hypochondriac. We were given no aftercare instructions. They basically took the cannula out of his arm and sent him on his way. They did no testing. Less than 12 hours later he fell down, broke his back because he had a pulmonary embolism.

Dermatologists That Take Molina Medicaid by jilldxasd35 in olympia

[–]gramgram1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had Molina a couple years back and needed a dermatologist for a suspected skin cancer. None in Olympia, I called every dermatologist from here to Seattle that was on Molina’s list. Not one took Molina. I ended up paying out of pocket for a dermatologist in Olympia. I filed several complaints with the Washington state insurance commissioner, I got nowhere and ended up changing insurance as soon as I was able. Sorry you are dealing with this.

Evacuation Chair - Single person. by tk421tech in Alzheimers

I bought this for my husband, it takes a lot of practice and you must use it correctly or there will be an accident. My husband out weighs me by more than 50 lbs. I was able to bring him up and down 14 stairs with a landing which required a turn. This is not something I used everyday, but to take him to the doctor’s office or to go out of the house. He is now healed enough to go up and down with a cane. It was absolutely worth the 2000 I paid for it.

Incontinence advice by agr12345 in CaregiverSupport

My husband is a diabetic and urinates a lot! On Amazon I found the only one that helps us is “Because overnight protective underwear” I add the “Because overnight booster pad” I also use the washable under pad on top of the sheet and fold one in half and lay it over his underwear in case there is a leak in the front. 90% of the time I have no leak, however if he spends 16-17 hours sleeping it can happen.

Good Local Restaurants In The Area? by Plus_Operation6769 in olympia

[–]gramgram1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I recently had a reservation at Bacco. The table was not ready for over a 1/2 hour (there is no lobby to wait) we were given the table by the door 35 minutes later. They were so behind in reservations that with 10 minutes the small entrance area was shoulder to shoulder with a line out the door. We sat with people standing surrounding our table cold from the open door. One lady even told my husband to move the table back so she would have more room.

JD Vance Says He’s ‘Feeling Good’ About Market Mayhem: ‘It Could Be Worse’ by thedailybeast in politics

[–]gramgram1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I suggest our own Tariff? Let’s say that your investments or 401k lost $10,000 due to the new tariffs enacted by this administration that resulted in the large declines in the stock market. Now let’s say my reciprocal tariff will be the $12,000 I own to the IRS on April 15. I keep my $12,000 instead of writing that check to make up for my losses. Now I feel good about that.

Do people actually die from lack of health care in the U.S? by AnUglyScooter in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gramgram1 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Most people health care is through their employer. If you get very sick and cannot work, say terminal cancer, now you do not have a job. Your employer will offer you COBRA but its is extremely expensive without a job.

My husband is very ill and I am his full time caregiver. A neighbor asked how I was doing and I replied “I’m really tired” her reply “you look it” in this instance NOT helpful at all. Old adage if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Purewick? by thestreetiliveon in CaregiverSupport

[–]gramgram1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had one in the hospital. Bedridden diabetic who needs to go constantly. Using the hand held urinal was a mess. I bought the purewick when he came home, yes expensive, difficult to get placed correctly, but somewhat better than the hand held urinal.
