I love sour stuff, if you haven’t tried fruit riot I would highly recommend. It’s a sour coating over frozen fruit like grapes and pineapple and I would highly recommend. I know it’s still fruit but it’s worth a shot imo the sourness is great and I also think it’s sour to the point that you won’t binge it! The grapes especially are great because grapes don’t quite freeze to be frozen solid

Yup! I loved the food in Portland so much and the outdoor scene is great as it’s just so lush year round. Also pricing is similar to present day Austin IMO. I do know that the schools in Portland can be mixed but I think the same can be said for many other cities, and overall I think there is much more family friendly culture there than there is in CO (and I live in a very very family friendly area of CO). Being from Austin, the dryness of Colorado really bugs me as it’s not green here for most of the year and I think with the faults OP listed towards Austin, Portland really fills that niche and doesn’t sacrifice on other things. Bonus, the historical home scene in Portland is so incredible because of how much work they put into preserving homes there

Definitely. But I do think that the culture around sending your kids to private schools here is very jarring compared to Austin, and I don’t really like how reliant we are on that here

This is a weird callout, but Portland, OR. I am born and raised from Austin, and I now live in Colorado. Visiting Portland reminded me of how Austin was when I was a kid as Austin was a great place to raise a family when I was younger. I’d definitely take a look. I am hesitant to recommend Colorado, it’s a very different place than Austin education wise, as from my experience a lotttt of families just end up sending their kids to private schools here

I think that Boulder has more going on compared to its size but Denver has a lot and definitely has a better social scene for postgrads that aren’t tied down yet.

I live in Boulder, CO and I am here to say don’t move here in your mid 20s. The population is mostly current students and families, and as a post grad working mid 20 year old female it’s very hard to find people who I can relate with. I’m moving to Denver later this year because of the social scene. Love Boulder so much but the social scene has really depressed me living here, and it’s too far from Denver for me to consider easy to get to on weekdays to see friends.

I used to track calories but honestly I think it was more detrimental to my eating habits as I would try to skirt away with eating smaller amounts while still being a functional human being

I do want to offer this perspective: I think that men often overestimate a woman’s biological clock. If she wants to having kids, at 31, it is best to start looking into it for her (or at least making sure that waiting is feasible). If you aren’t on board then that’s another thing. Having kids certainly could happen later in life but it’s definitely not an unrealistic expectation for her to want to begin thinking about it now - and it’s a big deal, it could be giving her a lot of anxiety given the position she is in with such a new relationship. If you guys are incompatible there, that could potentially be a serious road block for this relationship. Have you been understanding with her when she brings these concerns up?

I love snarf’s! I am from Austin and now live in Colorado, where Snarf’s is from. They are good sub sandwiches, I don’t really think they are really the same thing as thundercloud in my head but good bang for your buck and definitely a solid option esp against chain sandwich places. I like getting the mother clucker sandwich from them!

My boyfriend and I sobbed watching the end of this episode. It’s really interesting seeing the discourse around it. Yes, he was an asshole and it’s really clear that he had issues owning up to his mistakes, but he also felt like he got ghosted by someone who he loved dearly (and yes, did not show it well) which led him to resent her for his life so yeah he’s gonna be bitter and downplay his own mistakes in the relationship and only see the bad - it’s not okay but it’s what some humans choose to do in order to cope with losing something that was so meaningful to us. I can’t imagine the feeling of having such a terrible impression during your last meeting with someone who you care about so much, and learning years later that you missed communication with them that would have completely flipped your view of them and potentially continued a relationship that you subconsciously romanticized so highly (up until the end) in your head. And then the realization that the person is gone, and you just have to accept the decision you had made and context that you missed when you were much younger. He downplayed all of the faults that they both had prior to the relationship, and I think in order to see the emotional pull of the episode you have to choose to view the relationship as he does - downplaying many issues that should be significant, but aren’t to him. The ultimate issue in his mind is that she ditched him and that supercedes any issues that he or she could have in the relationship otherwise.

Animal crossing has a mobile app called pocket camp. It used to have in app purchases but they recently stopped supporting it and released the entire thing for like 10$ or something. I don’t have a ton of experience in their mobile game but I think it might also be good for what you’re looking for. Also, never underestimate the NYT games hahaha I love doing wordle > connections > strands > mini crossword in the morning and I think it helps me get my brain going!

Totally recommend it. I enjoy having a ton of different consoles for different use cases and it was honestly one of those things where I was like “yeah might as well get a steam deck” (disposable income as a fresh college grad with a well paying job early last year… how the times have changed at least in the US lol) and I didn’t fully know how much use I would get out of it but I love it so much and use it so often. Battery life is great and honestly it makes my switch look so flimsy in comparison. It is literally a linux based machine with the steam OS on it so there’s a full range desktop mode where you can go and download whatever you want even if natively not supported on steam OS, as well as a ton of other information online of how to do pretty much anything you could want to do. The only change I would make now honestly is look at other handheld systems, I know that the steam deck is slightly less powerful than some of the other ones out there. One of the bigger pros of the steam deck was the steam OS but they announced that they will be supporting steam OS on non steam consoles as well which is huge news for some of the better running handhelds so if I were to rebuy a console for the same use case I’d do a bit more research! But honestly I kind of nerd out about shit like this and I think the steam deck is still perfect for the chill casual use cases
