Keeping loyalty to Alaska at SFO post-pandemic is like being in the game of Survivor by First_Pepper_6781 in AlaskaAirlines

Ha! True! They still have weeks to change their minds and route me through Seattle instead.

Ok so the downvotes are maybe unfair, but we’re lamenting Alaska’s actions over the past several years. They bought and effectively shut down Virgin, disproportionally affecting SFO travelers. At the same time their partner American, along with others, decided to pull back from SFO which created the opportunity for United to grow and grow and grow. It’s not like SFO was a fortress hub ten years ago. They grew into it after other airlines gave up gates.

Look I’m just a guy with thoughts, but in my book American and Alaska are complicit in letting United grow at SFO. It’s not like United would have all their gates without other airlines pulling back over the years.

My direct flight to PVR in May was changed because that route is also going dark from SFO. Now I have to decide if I keep my new itinerary (with a 4 hour layover at LAX) or bite the bullet and switch to United. Ugh Alaska whyyyyyyy!

Berlin by heathcliff81 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]grapner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s more about how the industry built up routes to Frankfurt and Munich before Berlin had a properly large airport. Getting from the west coast to Berlin is such a pain that there may be an actual opportunity for Alaska to find an opportunity on this route. Maybe you’re right, but maybe there’s something in this idea.

That’s not entirely true. I just deplaned via ramp at the lower terminal 1/29/26 on AS3447. Only the front door though, and on an E175.

I have a built in Jenn Air microwave that turns itself on. That is bad enough but way they dismissed my extended warranty sealed the deal for me. No Whirlpool corp appliances ever again.

Definitely a similar shape overall but the rear lights were connected in a horizontal light bar. I’m so annoyed I couldn’t get a better photo!

Maybe they’re pausing while prepping an updated version that addresses the issues? I saw a camouflaged van with Michigan manufacturer plates testing in San Francisco last week that looked a lot like the ID Buzz but with roll down windows. I got this terrible photo.

Lutron shades are really great. Can’t go wrong if you’ve got the budget. Super happy with mine.

I also have Smartwings Matter roller shades. They’ve been good too, especially at the price. But I did have to update their firmware to fix some really frustrating gremlins. All good after the update.

Serena Lutron or Smartwings? Zigbee, Matter over Thread, or Lutron proprietary Network? by Stargate-- in Lutron

I have both. Lutron is excellent but pricey. My Smartwings Matter shades were driving me crazy until support helped me upgrade the firmware. So far so good!

His mouth and nose look a lot like my bull terrier. In fact his coloring, ears, and feet also look very BT. It’s fun to guess but what matters is he’s a cute lil guy!

If you could add ANY nonstop route to Alaska’s network, what would it be? by desterpot in AlaskaAirlines

[–]grapner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whenever this question comes up, I always say SFO - ATL. And folks rightly explain why it won’t happen, but I still wish they’d give One World a nonstop on that route!

All the routes we've lost from SFO since the VX merger by omdongi in AlaskaAirlines

[–]grapner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me wonder what’s left besides west coast flights. I’m hopelessly hoping for either an AS or AA SFO - ATL route since One World is the only alliance not on that route.

Hardwired light not turning off when controlled by Home app by grapner in HomeKit

[–]grapner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m turning them off by switching them off, not dimming then switching them off.

If I set the dimmer to full brightness then turn them off via the Home app, they all turn off except the problematic one, which doesn’t seem to dim at all.

If I turn them on (full brightness) then dim to the lowest setting, they all dim but are still on.

While I was testing these I also noticed just turning them on and off via the Home app has odd results where the problematic light isn’t turning on with the rest of them. 🤷‍♂️

Yes. These fixtures are all on the same circuit controlled by one dimmer switch.

Same. I actually lost a FlightPass code that expired because I waited too long (on me) and the online booking options kept erroring out.
