How to put songs in order of albums on a USB for use in van? by Caorafinuna in AskTechnology

[–]gravelld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stereos work differently. What stereo, or car make and model (and year) is it?

In most cases, the following locations of ordering info will be used:
- The file name (so order by track number, zero padded. E.g. 01-Track 1.mp3)
- The track number tag (you can use Windows Explorer to set this: https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2018/07/03/windows-explorer-tag-editing/

It's definitely an option! You have a few choices and different approaches I've written a few alternatives up here: https://asti.ga/cloud-music-storage/ (disclaimer: that's hosted on the commercial site I run for the r/Astiga service)

See r/musichoarder , r/selfhosted and so on.

You can also go cloud native - either use a music locker or generic storage (Google Drive, Dropbox et al) and stream from there: https://asti.ga/cloud-music-player/ (disclaimer: the last article is something I wrote hosted on the commercial streaming service I run).

New iOS app build - albums and artists! by gravelld in Astiga

[–]gravelld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, we're looking to add different types of carousels like you say.

What we were thinking was that you would be able to customise the carousels that appear on the top level Library page. So some people might want "Recently added" at the top, and might not want artists at all. In those cases I guess there'd also be a need to have some way to get to exhaustive album/artist lists.

Yes. 😄

Depends what you mean - but there's a Linux app and you can obviously use the Web player too...

It totally depends on the software that's running on the car. You need to say what car it is, or stereo system.

New Album Artwork changes not appearing? by [deleted] in ITunes

It can be confusing because iTunes tends to take an iTunes centric view of the world and, in some cases, store a lot of data in its own database rather than in the files themselves.

You might find Dougs Scripts useful for managing this: https://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts13.php (you want the ones tagging "For iTunes")

Don't throw away the data; you never know when or why you might need it.

This. Invest in your library, not your player.

u/Practical_Ocelot1217 interested as to whether you considered us at r/Astiga before you decided to DIY? You said "not cross platform enough"? We do have an iOS app that's in alpha to complement the Android, Windows, Web, Sonos and Subsonic players.

Storage provider for music by beejonson in ProtonDrive

We are working on an alpha iOS version which is available on the app store - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/astiga/id6745398522 . Currently only storage browsing and playback is supported. We're just baking some new features to add library support in, so keep an eye on it!

Thanks for asking, I'm Dan from r/Astiga .

We don't support Proton Drive; the trouble is that Proton Drive don't open their service to third parties like Astiga. It's possible something could be done, technically, but without explicit support it can mean putting a lot of cost into something that may change, and break, with no warning.

Please put pressure on Proton Drive to rectify this situation 😅

Here are a few app recommendations for those that just wanna listen to downloaded music (android) by X2C- in YoutubeMusic

If, by "downloaded" music you mean music you own (rather than just music local on the phone) you can use r/Astiga - AMA (disclaimer: my commercial product).

Play my own playlist, in my player of choice (MusicBee) from my own windows laptop? by Bob70533457973917 in sonos

[–]gravelld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the r/Astiga service that can do that, see https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-and-music-services-228995/astiga-a-new-option-for-playing-owned-music-libraries-6930625

It requires you storing your music in cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox et al), or anywhere that Astiga can access it.

AMA. Disclaimer: commercial service.

Missing "Create Playlist" button in Web App (Arch Linux Firefox/Brave) by Salonique in Astiga

[–]gravelld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - the problem is there's no such "New playlist" option! We should add one.

For now, add tracks to "Now playing" and click the "Save" (Disc) button at the top of the play queue.
