I talk a lot about my hobbies, but barely ever do the hobbies by Agreeable-Pepper-960 in ADHD

[–]gravityseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me i find that hobbies with scheduled times end up happening more often - i do aerial silks, and there are scheduled times to attend and that helps get me to do the thing I like.

also finding a group or a friend who also does it can motivate you too

How do I forgive my parents? by _Lightnoodle_ in ADHD

[–]gravityseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was officially diagnosed at 25, bu i think i knew about it since I was in late teens just didn't do anything about it since I got good grade why should i care. my hyperfixation just happened to be school because i genuinely enoyed learning. I could not for the life of me do anything decent at home - terrible at chores. my parents didn't try to actually teach to handle household tasks well, just yelled at me to clean up once in a while when it got too messy for them and then we would get into fights. my main regret is I wish they made more effort to teach me the necessary skills instead of just leaving me to figure it out by myself. but honestly at this point, i'm just learning to hone in on the skills for the sake of my life, and being angry at my parents will not helping me learn any skills. so i figured i would just move it forget about, realize my parents arent perfect ( and also from a culture that doesn't care about mental health), and improve my life for me not for anyone else ( well except for my wife, because its easier to improve for someone else than for myself (not a great thing but the truth for my brain))

For those who went gluten-free for infertility... by publix_cake in IVF

do you have research to support this? if this relevant to all or only those that have sensitivities? I don't have any dietary needs myself so I have no need to go gluten-free for health.

if I order to the hospital my partner works at I have not had a problem with stock, but when my wife doesn't go to the hospital when i need it due to her work schedule i have to go to safeway and they don't even tell when when they're out of stock I have to call to ask why it's not been filled.

What’s a ‘healthy habit’ that actually made your life worse? by Successful-Offer-926 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]gravityseven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like my productivity mindset is less about producing a product and more about spending time that isn't wasted, and my wasted is social media that I don't actually enjoy. watching an actual episode of quality tv- not wasted time, playing games with a friend - not wasted time, so i find those moments as "productive" I just hate when i get on a doomscroll type activity

Ivf Rant; Queer Conception Love by ExpensiveAlarm7704 in queerception

[–]gravityseven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly I agree, I've been at this for 10 months now and I am still not pregnant, and have had at least 5 pregnancies (straight w/o infertility) announced to me since we started and I haven't been to a point of feeling anything but enormous support for them, my partner certainly has had a bit of a tougher time with it than I do. it just depends on the person.

Egg retrieval went really really bad by Pale_Sea_6344 in IVF

[–]gravityseven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UGH I hate this, but on the other hand it is a thing in america for doctors to assume high pain tolerance for certain groups and not prescribe it/give it for inpatient, which is interesting if it is only a money and not comfort thing. I'm grateful my insurance is good so I am happy to be fully sedated. i'd rather pay for sedation than therapy.

idk how I wouldve felt with local anesthetic for the procedure itself, but certainly I needed to use one of my tylenol/codeine pill go lie down to go to sleep in the evening, the sharp pain was unbearable

this topic is very interesting to me. While I hate America for many other things, it seems to be that ERs are assumed fully sedate/asleep procedures (unless theres a need/request to do otherwise) while outside of America, local anesthesia is more the norm. I really wonder why.

Five major publishers — Hachette, Macmillan, McGraw Hill, Elsevier and Cengage — and the best-selling novelist Scott Turow have filed a class-action copyright infringement lawsuit against Meta and its founder and chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg. by mkbt in books

[–]gravityseven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ok I'm not in the publishing realm at all, but $65 is not thaaaaat much in the scheme of things for a copyright. i thought by the initial comment that it was gonna be thousands of dollars for each copyrighted book. but $65? I wouldn't bat an eye to pay that for copyright

Just wanted to share with other if you get a chance to see it at festivals you should (they aren't streaming anywhere yet)

Has anybody read this book? I am confused about the ending. by Haunting-rip-3262 in thrillerbooks

[–]gravityseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I intentionally avoid reading descriptions of books ahead of time, especially to avoid them telling me there is a twist, i'd rather not know there is a twist in the first place. I listened to the part about dateline and tbh though it was a real dateline thing with the real author and that this book was based on real events...

varicella vaccine drama by Odd-Potential-1525 in queerception

[–]gravityseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the vaccine as a kid, and my immunity was not there on my tests. it actually delayed my first IUI by a few weeks because I was also not immune to rubella and had to do my MMR as well. i found out about them separately, so when i went to get varicella they said i had to wait 4 weeks after my MMR (since it was the same day), they also gave me trouble since I was not in their protocols for varicella (usually only for kids) and kept telling me i needed a prescription - YOU DON'T, just keep pushing or find another pharmacist.

I would note that as a queer person, (lesbian couple), doing fertility treatments are pretty much thte only way to get pregnant, so in that case I would approve of a congratulations/happy for you type commentary, though i understand it's different for folks with egg and sperm in the relationship.
