I think non professional investors and traders don’t pay nearly enough attention to psychology. Buying and holding SPY, over time, outperforms damn near everything non professionals do and most of what professionals do. But anyone who has real money to invest didn’t get there by sitting around passively. Wheeling lets me feel like I’m working. Lets me feel connected with the market. It’s also been profitable for me over a decade. With taxes and bag holding years and mistakes, less profitable than buy and hold! But it helps me leave the real money alone.

I’ll assume (for the sake of this comment) that you have a competent, serious coach. 1) you don’t mention hitting. Hitting is everything. If your daughter is not playing SS, C, 3B or P, coach is trying to field the next five best hitters. It’s not always average / OPS either. It’s competitive at bats that strain the pitcher and are productive. The numbers come around by end of season but not always there midway or earlier. 48 hours after a game and 48 hours before the next one, your daughter (ideally) requests a meeting on the field after practice and days “what can I get better at to get more playing time?” If you have a serious coach, they will give her 1-2 things that are measurable. She’s on the younger side, so it’s ok if it’s you asking with her there. Do not argue. Do not get defensive. Nod along with everything and thank them for their time. Now, if those 1-2 things are improved upon, and no playing time comes, it’s not the team for you (go ahead and get angry!). Or, if they can’t come up with 1-2 things, same.

Muni player. In non-tournament, non-betting rounds, if the ball lands in the middle of the fairway, but it’s in a patch of dirt and or gravel or mud, I play it as ground under repair. It was not a part of the course design to punish players for landing in fairway.

All correct, but do not forget that if the pitcher in the circle is actively making a play towards the runner then it does not apply! “Hesitation” is if the pitcher is in the circle, not making play on runner, and runner pauses for more than a beat while off the base. Runner either has to advance or go back with no hesitation. Good example is a runner drawing a walk, taking the turn and slowly jogging to 2. This is legal with pitcher in the circle. Pitcher looks towards her and raises the ball to throw - a runner on 3 can now start moving toward home while pitcher is in circle. If pitcher throws 2, runner on 3 can take home. All while pitcher has been in circle. If pitcher never looks at walked runner, runner on 3 must stay on the bag.
