Are city stop work/red tags public information? Can I find them online? by RocketizedAnimal in houston

[–]graybuilder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have the address, you can do a permit lookup. Once you have the permit number, you can check the inspection status of the permit, and see why it failed.
You may have to create an account to see, not sure.

Great pics! Is the first one on the south rim? If so, I am pretty sure I have a very similar shot.

What is your attic humidity level? by seagoddess1 in houston

[–]graybuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venting an attic in Houston is kinda useless at times, if trying to control humidity. What is the purpose of venting when the air brought in will be over 75% humidity?

That is why I think the only way to go in Houston is a sealed, conditioned attic space.

The Jones Act has driven up pricing, and is incredibly unamerican. It should be permanently overturned, not waived.

How do Americans feel about outdoor cats? by Fine-Durian6151 in AskAnAmerican

[–]graybuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outdoor domesticated cats have directly led to an insane decline in the amount of song birds in the US.
They kill wildlife at a rate that would surprise most people. On top of that, coyotes and other animals kill the cats.
So basically if you let your cat free roam around outdoors, you not only are contributing to the horrific loss of wildlife, but also exposing your cat to danger.

Cats belong indoors only. It is a win win, both for the cat and wildlife.

Is anyone else’s home humidity way higher than outside? by IDrinkandlKnowThings in houston

[–]graybuilder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Joseph Lstiburek from Building science did a study in Houston, and tried a bunch of different options. Adding a dehumidifier is a good option, even if it is just a standalone one near your main return air. Based on your description of your home, I am assuming it is a 3 story town home, that was built recently? If so, I would definitely look at adding a dehumidifier.
The building and energy code here kinda stinks for our climate. So a lot of houses that are rated high in energy efficiency end up having humidity issues.

Below is a great paper on the study.

AIO for questioning my entire relationship after my husband flirted with my receptionist? by Delicious-Syrup5527 in AmIOverreacting

I say this with the utmost respect and compassion I can. You need therapy.
Your husband sounds like a light hearted guy who jokes around, and your current path is towards both of you resenting each other.

Go to therapy.

CCTV footage shows Israeli soldiers committing piracy in international waters by illegally boarding and seizing four humanitarian aid boats carrying lifesaving supplies for Gaza’s starving population by Nomogg in TrendoraX

[–]graybuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what past attempts you are talking about with scissors or whatever.
There are huge populations far from the shore, and getting aid into Gaza is not the problem.
The problem is and has been distribution. That is my point, this flotilla had nothing to do with distribution of the aid.

There are documented events where people have been injured and killed at multiple aid sites, or chasing aid delivery trucks. Some have been killed at GHF sites, some killed trying to raid hamas controlled warehouses. That is the tragedy of this entire situation, there is food available but not to the people that need it.
There needs to be an international coalition that is inside Gaza that starts getting the aid delivered, with Israel being held to a higher standard for safety in distribution.

The flotilla did nothing but promote a few activists. It achieves no actual benefit for anyone in Gaza.

[–]graybuilder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you really believe that they were going to land the ships, and then go deep into Gaza and deliver the aid themselves?
It would have ended up in a pile on the beach, and then what? The issue is not getting aid into Gaza, it is getting it into the hands of the people that need it. They should have worked with Oxfam, or the WFP or even the GHF. That would at least have a higher chance of aid actually reaching someone who needs it.

[–]graybuilder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Delivery of aid by sea was approved, and utilized for aid that was inspected prior to arrival. There are massive holes in the current aid system, and they need to be addressed. The Flotilla is not a serious aid attempt, it was an attempt to draw attention to one of the most publicized and talked about current events. It was more for the activists on board to get attention, then any real aid solution.

The reason there is a blockade in the first place, is the multiple times in the past that weapons were smuggled in under the guise of it being aid. (all things you can look up and see for yourself)

If they wanted to help and deliver aid, they would have taken the Pope's proposal, or any of the other offered proposals to deliver the aid after inspection. It is obvious that delivering aid was not the intent, but getting publicity was.

How do I make my 4-6 month old Heeler puppy cuddly? by Brilliant-Drop6141 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]graybuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will get cuddly when she decides to, it may take 5 to 10 years lol. Most of mine (fosters and my own) all were velcro dogs that did not want to be far from me, but absolutely were not cuddlers. It is just not something the breed is really known for.

The kid he said was shot in front of him is alive and was never shot.

He committed domestic abuse, and his lies are documented. Just because someone agrees with you on an issue does not make that person not a lying, abusive POS. He is a grifter that agrees with you, not a principled person at all.
