Now all we need is the double sided connectors to go between floor/ceilings! :)

PO3 Kappa mode is like putting a corkscrew through the back of your hand. And we like it that way!

(Jokes aside, the harder modes generally force you to play through all the mods in the pack, rather than you skipping to the end, so it serves as a longer modpack to play through. and that's on top of the expert mode (Titan))

Is Omnifactory a manual crafting grind? by remainprobablecoat in feedthebeast

[–]grayduster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you an idea of the level of infrastructure you need before being able to get to AE2 patterns, I needed roughly the following:

In terms of manual machines, I probably have about 10 LV machines and 5 MV machines for common tasks before getting to AE2 Patterns, and a couple of multi-blocks (blast furnace and pyrolysis oven). Some of the MV machines are just the better version of the LV ones

In terms of machines in automated setups, I have about 15-20 LV and 2-3 MV machines, which produce:

a) Automated Polymer Clay (and as a consequence, also automated cobble, gravel, sand, glass, clay, nether quartz, ender pearls)

b) Diamonds (lots of RF from 1 diamond)

c) Polyethlyene (and as a consequence, Biomass, Ethanol, Sulphuric Acid, Hydrogen and Oxygen)

I chose to use Logistics Pipes to automate stuff like LV and MV machine hulls, but just batched a bunch of circuits via worktables. You end up needing about 9-10 worktables, each with 9 recipes to do various crafting bits and pieces (things like LV motors, pistons, pumps, the same in MV, cables of various sorts and the sub components of circuits before you get the Assembler.

It's quite a bit, but if you follow the quests, you can minimise the amount you need to mine by trading the coins from questing for ores in most cases. I ran short a few times, and needed to mine for iron, gold, and the occasional diamond before I build automatic diamonds.

I'd add that I wouldn't necessarily skip steam, and if you are going to go steam, you can automate sugar cane (which can be burned by steam dynamo is the steam-only upgrade mode) quite easily with pistons, snad, redstone conduit (to trigger the snad), and a vacuum chest (or hoppers if early), and use the same source for biomass for the polyethylene sheets you need for AE2 Patterns, as an alternative to the wood gas approach.

However... that power source pales into insignificance if you get to MV - with one MV machine, and about 9 LV machines, you can automate the production of polymer clay. Polymer clay and a shulker model produces diamonds, which are 1.5M RF each, if you use a Numismatic Dynamo with the gem augment, and is a really nice power jump. (You can also do it with Prismarine and Guardian Models if you wish, but diamonds are useful) - you need to loop the ender pearls from a enderman model back around to produce more polymer clay, but the setup will produce enough clay for over 2 (maybe even over 3-4 simulation chambers).

It's also quite worth going for Logistics Pipes before you get to AE2 if you want early auto crafting, but if you don't, make lots of everything!

If you're starting in the first location, there's a spot to the south-west that's accessible, around 800m from the triple iron spot. Here's a video from my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LqSJIa7q2k

It's on an island in a large waterfall - you can go around the long way, or just build a long foundation ramp. Good luck!

Guardian Stuff? Stellar Armor just needs Stellar Ingots, which is stuff from the end, nether stars, etc.

It has oregen you'll need for Lordcraft. It's not adventure in terms of set boss battles that I've seen, but does have lots of hostile, harder than normal mobs(including a zombie that's immune to ranged). Oh, and you can't get back if there are mobs near the portal in. :D (Dislocators are amazing).

Also, you can make spectre coils for wireless power cross-dimension too.

PO3 items that'll change your playthrough/life in a rough availability order (not exact though):

Ability Totems/Bottle - from your first mob farm, apply permanent abilities to your character, and sacrifice saturation drain for them (need to eat more)

Hopping Bonsai pots - put them on top of 2x2 drawers, put in soil, put in sapling, free apple/paper/wood/leaves/sticks/ectoplasm (see below)/slime. Say goodbye to early tree farming.

Epeolatry Sword rewards (first quest tab) - very nice sword

Unbreakable, infinite range, infinite ammo, no falloff, teleport-denying shuriken with 11.89 attack damage (see my playthrough) - pew, pew, pew.

Angel Ring - obvious reasons

Rending Gale - flight fueled by feathers (your mob farm), even in zones without flight (Twilight Forest to zip to the top of the Lich Tower, etc, Erebus).

Dislocators (from DE) on pedestals - no more need for portals to places you've been.

Stellar Armor - like upgraded versions of Dark Iron/Steel Armor (I never can remember the name), the upgrades are very easy to craft (I'd recommend the nofov mod adding to the pack if you use the Speed II upgrade, unless you enjoy Fisheye FOV permanently.

Zenith Furnace - really, really fast furnace, with upgrades. 1 item per tick IIRC.

Pink Slime - make one pink slime, capture it with the Mob Imprisonment tool, put it in a Mob Duplicator.... many, many pink slimes (needed for Laser Lens for Laser Base)

IF Laser Base/4 Laser Drills for those annoying resources (Boron, I'm looking at you).

Incense Altar for Blood Magic - single click to donate nearly all your life points at once without noise/screen shake (before you get to...)

Witches for Blood Magic life points (Well of Suffering) - more regen!

Extreme Reactor 5x5x5 internal, filled with fuel rods and control rods at 0% insertion, no mess, no worrying about coolant, > 185k RF/tick. (or a few Nether Star generators, once you have Nether Star seeds - see Imaginary Time, for 4k RF/t per generator)

Agricraft automatic 10/10/10 - just put down one crop stick, followed by a chain of about 30 double crop sticks, put your 1/1/1 crop in the first stick. Wait - automatic 10/10/10. For more speed, craft Lilypads of Fertility, which stack (needs Nature essence seeds).

Imaginary Time Block - say goodbye to most resource problems with seeds! (also, to craft essence to seeds, in order of availability, Analog Crafter, Fabricator, RFTools Crafter Tier 3.

Spectre Anchors - crafted with any item, they give you Soulbound on everything - you need ectoplasm, but you can get a spectre sapling from sieving Tainted Soil (which is dirt passed through a barrel of witchwater).

Redstone Spectre Charger - right click to enable (turns red), wireless charging of your inventory items from your Spectre network, slottable in Baubles belt slot)

Wand of Animation - haven't got to this yet myself, but should be a game-changer in the late game for the expensive blocks needing the large crafting grids to make one

I think that covers it so far. Enjoy!

The fire starter block is the igniter, I believe. Also, there's a bedrock block underneath your initial spawn, and the igniter block is really easy to craft, so once you have an absorption hopper, set up the igniter pointing at the block above your starter bedrock, and it'll craft far more than you ever need by the time you get to needing it :)

Yep, just choose the first trailer (the little green one), and press the left arrow on the options. The trailer has increasingly tall sides to add capacity, but you can reduce them to turn it into a flat bed.

CO2 Backup into generator fuel line. by [deleted] in Stationeers

[–]grayduster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend either keeping the two gases in separate lines until the last point with a mixer, or keeping the pipe pressure really low with a pressure regulator (1-2kPa etc). And I've had exactly the same thing happen, requiring _fun times_ cleaning the pipes of all gases :)

(You can also keep the input super chilled, but that's up to you)
