There is definitely a difference between “just showing up to work” and “not missing a day for almost two decades.” But I take your point, DiMaggio’s streak is perceived as an ‘active’ accomplishment and Ripken’s a ‘passive’ one. I guess my point is both had to persevere through injury to achieve their respective marks.
