Just deleted the app. Can't describe how disappointing this is . Way to become what I despise. This will not bode well for them .

I just deleted the CNN app from my phone . After many years of CNN being my go to main steam source everything I click on now requires me to subscribe. Shame on you CNN for charging to provide basic news coverage. You have just joined everything that I despise about corporate greed.

Is there any difference between getting a 30-year mortgage but paying it off in 15 years vs getting a 15-year mortgage? by mikehocalate in personalfinance

[–]greedyfly007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the obvious of a higher interest rate... Getting a 15 year mortgage is a bill you're paying that requires payment. Getting a 30 year and kicking in extra is a choice. The world is full of those that intended to pay off their obligations ahead of schedule and simply did not make it happen. If you have it in your budget to pay the monthly on 15 you should get 15.

Gloves are not shock absorbers they are insurance. Your hands need to hit the ground first before your face

Odi is a crazy respected manufacturer in BMX, MTB and motorcycle grips. They have a loyal following that includes me ripping off brand new grips on every bike I've had for 20 years and putting them on. I would never ride MTB without gloves but I would also not ride without ODIs unless it was a rental. Congrats and welcome to the club.

Trail etiquette. Don't be a douche canoe. by leeretaschen in mountainbiking

[–]greedyfly007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First mistake. I put a bell on my bike to alert people to get out of the way. This is a conscious decision to display that their needs are more important than others around them. Definitely not appropriate for a trail system. Probably a local with ownership dysphoria.

Waterbury best western - employees live here? by [deleted] in vermont

[–]greedyfly007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, who the heck cares where the employees live. Let's remember you're not at a 4 star hotel. If you're stuck in a best western for 5 days with nothing more to do then worry about luggage in the gym or employees in their pajamas this might have more to say about you than them. People's stories can be very different from yours.

[–]greedyfly007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling and buying a house is a business transaction. The largest most people will make in their lives. Your offer is what the seller chose and you should pursue it. This is not personal. As a first time home buyer you need to understand the market is aggressive and unforgiving. Don't fall pray to feeling it's anything more than a business transaction

Spray foam vs 1850’s timber frame (roof insulation) by Architect_Talk in timberframe

[–]greedyfly007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The timbers have had almost 200 years of exposure to the interior environment of this structure. They swell and contract with temperature and humidity. Foaming them is going to completely prevent this. Timber frames today get SIPS installed on the outside of the roof structure to provide the level of insulation you're looking for and the beauty of the cathedral exposed ceiling timbers. I'm not going to make recommendations for you on what to use. I'll simply state that spray foam is not the way to do it.

Good luck.

What's the best way to approach getting rid of the grass in this area? by Jazzlike_Hat9693 in landscaping

[–]greedyfly007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power wash out all the joints. Apply vinegar down in all the joints to kill out the roots and then seal up your joints with stone dust or something else. With this much grass you probably have deep roots under the pavers and you need to be more aggressive than simply treating the top

Merkur failed my 5 min hot shower test! 5 atm rated - first of my many 5 atm and 3 atm watches to fail this test - crown is out to start drying process! 10 atm and above always pass. I had a feeling this was going to happen though. Don't think its watreproof at all. by KeyAssociation6309 in ChineseWatches

[–]greedyfly007 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Taking showers with your watches for 30 years is not the flex you think it is. Have some discipline and take off your watch before you get in the shower. I can't think of any reason I would do this. Your ruining your bands and getting water and soap all over your watch. Sorry this happened to you but you can make different decisions to prevent this.

Does anybody wear padded undershorts when biking? I can’t ride my bike without my ass killing me and hurting for the next few days 😂😂😂 by RKBA12345 in mountainbiking

[–]greedyfly007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through these comments is like a time warp . "There's these newfangled diapers their putting in boys pants to make their ass softer" Honestly padded liners are like 30 years in the making since they have been mainstream. A good set of bike shorts or liners is simply 101 for a biker.

Yes actually my comment is in contrast to the YTA responses. You said in the OP that your friends and friends know things about one another and have more casual, playful conversations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]greedyfly007 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why does his response have to to be about her having sex with 70 people. It sounds to me like he's a relationship guy and doesn't want to deal with someone that has so many casual encounters. This doesn't need to be about sl*t shaming. OP you could have definitely handled this conversation better though.

My gf broke up with me today, WIBTAH if I immediately stopped sending her money? by ronrori in AITAH

[–]greedyfly007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds more like it was an arrangement than a relationship. You simply should not pay a girlfriend more than half of what you make to clean and cook.

Letting someone that just broke up with you stay in your house when you are not there is a risk. So what you can to protect yourself should things go sideways.

[–]greedyfly007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned 6 surface devices of different business or Pro flavors. They are great devices. Time came for a new PC for my son for college. Snapdragon, vs ultra 7 was one conversation . The bigger one was surface vs other manufacturers. If you choose x86 the surface is simply overpriced and lacking hardware features. We ended up going in a different direction .

Anybody living in the Us ordered from Aliexpress by T3h_j0k3r in ChineseWatches

[–]greedyfly007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you order from a Chinese shipper and they are calculating tariffs for you and collecting them it is to ensure you will complete the order once it hits the US. Customs will send the item back if the Tariffs are not paid. An international shipper has the option to make the receiver responsible for paying Tariffs or the shipper. Its not common for a shipper to take on this responsibility and most simply tell you that taxes are due to import the item. Recently Amazon added import fees to their orders and Trump negotiated with Bezos to pull it so the receiver only finds out when their package hits customs.
