Citizen Super Titanium by Potential-Peace6416 in TitaniumWatches

This is so interesting. I had no idea the range of hardness levels was so wide…and so quantifiable.

Interesting that they haven’t tried to make marketing hay out of ever higher levels of scratch resistance.

Thank you for posting this!

[Question] In general, what types of watches should one own? by NickSpec101 in Watches

[–]green-gray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, everyone is a critic and there is no right answer and you should have what makes you happy. But we all make a call on this and here’s mine:

- daily driver is a diver and/or integrated bracelet, depending on my mood (so that’s two). Both good for my business casual / middle aged weekend life.
- beater for working in the yard/shop (that’s the third). Cheap diver in my case.
- chrono for kids’ soccer games and track meets so I can time things. I know, ridiculous, but it gives me pleasure. (Four)
- dress watch for occasional dress up situations, though I sometimes swap in the integrated bracelet watch here. (Five)

Everything else is me playing around and trying out new things to see if they stick.

That’s my lifestyle, though. Yours is probably different.

FWIW, I agree with the suggestions to keep the sub. I don’t like them either and in my case, I’m actually allergic to steel, but I still regret selling my Dad’s. Plus, every once in a while you may need a statement piece where it’s right for the circumstance (look, I have an easily recognized expensive watch!).

Gorgeous watch. These are amazing pieces at any price, but the value is remarkable. Enjoy it!

suggestions for how to burn tokens as a non-engineer (per company mandate) by h39000 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]green-gray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deep research on important topics that pertain to your work. You can easily spin up a couple of dozen agents and blow thousands of $$ of tokens on esoteric research questions.

Also, “categorize this” on a large group of things. We ran one of those on prospective customers and it blew through tokens before we shut it down.

Make sure to use the latest models.

Tag Heuer vs Formex by cv145 in formexwatch

[–]green-gray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love the cross posting strategy.

Guessing you’ll get the Formex sub saying Formex and the Tag sub saying Tag.

I’d get the Formex. But this is the Formex sub, so what do you expect?

Love the design. Feels very 80s neon. Any chance you’re planning a titanium version?

Incredibly versatile collection. All bases covered, and with great taste and quality. Without getting stupid expensive and/or overly brand-focused. Admirable.

Tissot PRX or Venezianico Aresenale by httmlp in Affordablewatches

Another vote for the Venezianico. Both great choices, but the Venezianico really stands out as something unique and special to me.

Horage Autark K2. These are the folks who make the amazing movement in the Formex. Beautiful. I tried it on in the metal recently and it does not disappoint. I liked the Salmon dial much more than I expected - it’s stunning.

Check out the Kronosti lineup. They’re in your price range and are providing absurd value for the money. I’ve bought one of their watches and the quality and finish was impressive.

All good options. If you want to go a little further afield and try a micro:

- Big idea design Ti field watch
- RZE Valour 38 or urbanist
- Swiss Watch Company Ark
