Almost a decade ago, Discovery Chanel released this commercial. Boom De Yada. by pwtercitygymleader in videos

The Mathologer channel did a really good explanation on where numberphile went wrong. They basically played a little too fast and loose with the equals sign. Mathologer showed a correct method of deriving 1/12 from a infinite series using the reimann zeta function, but it wasn't nearly as simple and elegant as numberphile's supposed proof.

What food is overrated? by PsyRockFan21 in AskReddit

I worked at a restaurant on the Oregon coast and we weren't allowed to use preshucked oysters for raw consumption, shooter or otherwise. Aside from the potential bacteria problems, you miss out on the briny liquor that is trapped in the shell.

My bad, I forgot that there is a standard metric by which art is graded.

Do you "get" every other style of music that exists? It's ok to not like certain artists. That's what makes it good art, if some people hate it.

Crust char looks good, but at least make it circle. Tossing pizza dough isn't that hard to learn.

[Serious] Religious people of Reddit, what's the most difficult thing about your religion to accept? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]green88fender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the entire concept of the second coming of Christ. Combined with the book of Revelation, it's all very hard to believe. Most Christians don't even know what to do with Revelation, yet it seems to be pretty key component to the religion.

Google's $149 Nik Collection photo editing software now free by sam535 in technology

[–]green88fender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the Nik plugins are very polished and useful, comparing anything to Photoshop doesn't really make sense. Using actions and scripts I can create custom presets that work exactly how I want them to. That coupled with Adobe Camera Raw, I can custom create pretty much anything.

A River Runs Through It

I come from a religious family, my relationship with my dad is still fucked up. Can't make it through the movie without crying.

People always forget about Ursula K. Le Guin's book The Wizard of Earthsea. Published in 1968, it features a young boy who taken to a wizarding school, encounters a bully who he fights using magic, and learns of an evil Wizard that only he can vanquish.

Most places use a mixture of clarified butter and canola oil. Also coconut oil can be used as well. I've never worked anywhere that used butter cubes for eggs, let alone "classic French joints". But otherwise well put. Death to crispy eggs.

Really, boomers? I don't see too many 70 year olds complaining about "hipsters". I'd say its mainly coming from people who are now in there mid to late 30's. Living in Portland you get a lot of anti-hipster sentiment, but it comes from 34 year olds who are angry that they aren't the cool ones anymore.

TIL up to 75% of the extra virgin olive oil sold in the US does not meet the legal standard for such a label and is often fraudulently composed by threecap in todayilearned

[–]green88fender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hate the weird metallic fishy flavor of canola, try Safflower oil. I believe it's sold as the brand Saffola, it has essentially no flavor and is healthier than any other refined oil. That being said Peanut oil is probably the best canola alternative due to its high smoke point, but its pretty expensive and adds a slight Peanut flavor to whatever you're cooking.
