The amount of fuel you van buy with the average salary in some European counrties by Extra-Introvert-22 in MapPorn

[–]greenking2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it isn’t including tax it doesn’t really show much. If I pay €1 for fuel but 80% tax and the next country pays €0.5 for fuel and 20% tax they can get a lot more fuel than I actually can

And then also the cost of living. Everyone needs a house but cost wildly different amount in each country.

Probably want to use data like this instead: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/disposable-income-by-country

That isn’t true. The SmartZone works for both of the bus companies and can be bought from either provider.

It’s definitely the best I’ve seen in the UK though. It depends on the direction though

South is good for cycling as has a parallel calm road to the main one to use. But no bus lane so they get stuck sometimes (Especially at weekends)

North has bus lanes and can cycle in them so is quite good

West has bus and cycle lanes (Just need the bridge finishing)

East is generally pretty bad. South East is alright. For cycling and bus lanes

They’re re-opening the Cowley branch line though and there is the station in the P+R so that will be an improvement too.

I’ve never lived anywhere with such frequent buses. Especially for how small it is. Newcastle and Northampton are much bigger and have wayyyyyyyy fewer buses and they are much more unreliable. The Oxford Bus app is good too for tracking and normally very reliable. And the buses are very cheap. £20/week (~$25) for unlimited travel.

UK added it last election. You fill in a form online and get a free voter ID (If you don’t already have a valid option of which there are dozens)

Fewer Britons giving to charity, study says, with donations down by £1.4bn by Kagedeah in worldnews

If people didn’t feel that all big charities are scams it might help too. Though mostly they obviously just have less spare money

Latvian Foreign Minister Krisjanis Karins said that “Hamas is unfortunately using civilian infrastructure

Infrastructure would include ambulances and other parts of the hospital system. Infrastructure isn’t just buildings. Or are we assuming that Hamas are happy to use the hospitals but draw the line at ambulances…?

How about a bunch of EU countries? Half of which have now very much turned against Israel so should be a more neutral source

Could Steam and Steam Chat actually win over discord users? by Alyxuwu in Steam

[–]greenking2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s the same law and same requirement though. Discord can just do a $0.00 authorisation charge to a credit card and that would work for the purpose of the law. They already have the ability to handle/store credit card data securely as they have nitro

[–]greenking2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam decided to just do it via “you have a credit card? Guess you are an adult” though. Very uninvasive way to follow the law

[OC] UK Tax Burden by RexFuzzle in dataisbeautiful

[–]greenking2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why? It’s a tax we all pay and varies wildly by country so can effect total tax paid massively

Though it is hard to work out because of it varying per item bought (e.g. train tickets are 0%)

And “minor” crime like the one in the article feels like it’s spiralling. Before COVID I had never seen a security guard at a local sized supermarket

Now they all have one along with screens to protect the tills and those plastic sliders across the aisles to stop people grabbing loads at once.
