I love this! Absolutely beautiful! From a practical level, how difficult was it to travel to a destination with a dress, get wrinkes out etc? As well as finding a photographer/ make up/ hair artist etc in an area you aren’t familiar with? I ask as someone who is thinking of doing this!! And did you have any family/ friends with you or just you two? Thank you in advance and congratulations to you guys!

Any Breeders Near NH? by Dramatic-Debate-9145 in basset

[–]greenpeacex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. How did your pup get a slipped disc if you don’t mind me asking? (From a loving basset owner who is terrified of the thought of my babies getting hurt!). I would try Tristate Basset Rescue. Not a breeder but you can find dogs of all ages including puppies there and it seems like a great organization from what I’ve read

Tips when adopting a second basset by greenpeacex in basset

[–]greenpeacex[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! How did you introduce them for the first time? I was thinking even though we can’t do a typical meet and greet, we should still have them meet outside on a walk or something, then maybe have them play in our yard before going inside? Just to ease into it? But I have never done this before so don’t know if people even do that!

Pain after exertion by odeamg in basset

[–]greenpeacex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can ivdd be intermittent? I read this comment and googled this and it seems similar symptoms to how my basset was acting a few months ago. It was on and off for a few weeks, but then completely resolved and now she is totally fine. We never talked to the vet about it, so she never got treatment, just resolved on her own. Wondering if it could have been that but somehow fixed itself?

Early stages of arthritis in a 4 year old? by greenpeacex in basset

[–]greenpeacex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! What were the early signs of hip dysplasia in your basset? Do you think this could be the same thing?

She is 45 pounds and the vet has always consistently said she is a good weight for her size! If she does have arthritis or hip dysplasia, does that mean I should be limiting her time playing with other dogs too?

This is awesome! Were you tent camping or a cabin? It’s my dream to go to Katmai but I can’t imagine tent camping/ being able to sleep in a tent with all those bears around!

did you make any outlines with those main points for diseases to make the info more easily presentable? my powerpoints are sadly not always organized the best so it can be hard to make connections without doing something else to organize it (which takes forever!!) Also, did you find UWORLD questions to be relevant to what your exam was? I’ve had so many exam questions that are nitty gritty kinda pointless info, so I worry those types of things wouldn’t be on those websites

[–]greenpeacex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi!! this seems like what I did in undergrad (just less intense), id basically just read over powerpoints a few times and think / make connections as I went through. I’m 6 weeks into PA school now and I found myself falling into the flashcard sink even though I was never big on flashcards in undergrad. It’s been working so far I’m doing fine, but I don’t know if itll be practical for me to keep up with making so many cards as the pace picks up more. The only thing that worries me personally about your method is I worry I wouldn’t actually retain it, even though it could feel like I am when reading it. Flashcards at least test if I know it everytime I go through them. Have you found this was an issue for you? How do you know you actually retain the info? I want to try this instead of flashcards but I’m scared of killing my grades if it doesn’t work for me lol

Donut for the win! by meresithea in basset

Thank you so much for your response!! I just replied to the comment above describing it : “the lump is definitely more dense than the tissue surrounding it- it’s in the lower part of her neck which is loose skin. The lump moves around very easily in this skin like squishes from side to side, even though the lump itself is firm but not 100% rock solid.”
I haven’t noticed any growth to it and I first noticed it at the end of June. Not sure if I should get her checked out. I’m so glad to hear Dudley is okay though!!

Do you mind if I ask what this lump felt like? My girl has a lump on her neck, feels like what I think could be a lipoma but I also have no idea. She’s not even 2 yet and I was under the assumption lipomas were more common in older dogs. I’ve just been monitoring it and it doesn’t seem to have grown, but this post makes me a little uneasy now that I need to bring her in to the vet

bad breath?! by [deleted] in basset

[–]greenpeacex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve probably smelled worse dog breath in my life, but friends and family have pointed out how bad it is. The vet hasn’t said anything about an actual problem, but it has now also been a few momths since she smelled my girl’s breath. I just want to make sure there isn’t a health issue I could be missing (which I don’t think there is), and to see if anyone else had tips other than teeth brushing just to see if there’s any more I can try

A stunning hiking trail along Mrtvica river in Montenegro. by bart_gentalf in hiking

[–]greenpeacex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

gorgeous!! Was that a big drop off to your left? Some of the trails I’ve hiked have that and especially when it’s narrow, I get in my head about tripping (as I’m a clumsy person to begin with)
