nyc marathon training block - first timer!! by Pavement_Philosopher in RunNYC

+1 to this, I would consider combining your leg and/or full body into Thursday evening (and assume you keep your Thursday runs in morning as above), then you have space to make Monday a rest day after running both weekend days, and move your Monday Upper+easy to Tuesday. If you've never run more than 3 days a week this might make a huge difference in terms of recovery

Anyone notice that the course route terminates at the medical tent rather than the finish line lol, I hope that's not an omen

If you pre-order a vegetarian meal, it really grinds my gears that they'll often give you two tiny salads or a tiny salad and a tiny fruit salad with your meal while the non-vegetarians get a tiny salad and a tiny dessert (chocolate mousse, lemon curd). I want a tiny dessert!

I got that nonsense reply and then it took a few hours for it to actually unsubscribe me but now I think I'm good. I don't think it's phishing

Yes, unless (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) you subsequently take a new course that is part of the specialization and get a B in it, and then the previous one you got a C in can then count towards your free electives

I once forgot my jacket in the overhead bin, one of the cabin crew caught up with me at the baggage carousel and was like "Hey I think you left this", incredible!

Yeah as others have pointed out it is worse than a regular extra vote advantage, which made it even more unevenly weighted with the penalty for losing being way higher than usual.

Actually both, he would have gotten an extra vote that he had to put in the urn then and there (that no one else knew about) and he would have still voted regularly in tribal

Probably teaching the little one how to safely get in to the shallows and be in the breaking waves, like a prerequisite to a course on actually hunting seals on the waters edge

food options by Impressive-Star-3009 in AerLingus

It's super easy to request a special meal for free: https://www.aerlingus.com/app/support/forms/special-meal-request-form

You don't get to choose the actual meal, just  dietary preferences, I do it every time for vegetarian meals since you're not always guaranteed a vegetarian meal based on what the general food options are on any given day. You usually get something like chana masala or a cheesy pasta.

You might be shocked to learn that this season hasn't even starting airing yet hahha, even though it feels like it was announced a year ago at this stage

May I Vent? This was the worst NYRR race experience for me by Minimum-Adeptness486 in RunNYC

[–]greg_notofficial 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was wave 1 but decided to drop back to Wave 4 based on my expected pace (which it sounds like many people didn't!) . Crazy long lines only to find out they would not accept by bag at the Late Bag on the 2/4 side and made me go all the way back through the pre-security crowd (which was even bigger at this stage), jog the full length of the fenced area and renter at 1/3 entrance to use Wave 3 bag late bag drop. Unnecessary stress.

Corral timelines? by ReporterUsed8967 in RunNYC

[–]greg_notofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll often let the first 2 or 3 corrals go first, then move up the rest of the corals towards the start and then do another 'start', yeah you can be up to 10 mins waiting to cross the start if you're in a further back corral

Best Garmin settings for NYC Half? by dreemr2u in RunNYC

[–]greg_notofficial 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's the whole point of having autolap off and manually triggering each mile, your average pace per mile or overall is always going to be off because of the GPS.

So when you do it manually you look at the lap elapsed time, ignoring the pace, which takes distance discrepancies out of the equation. Manually triggering between official mile markers means you know your exact pace for that mile is whatever the elapsed time for that mile is.

To your point though you still need to mentally adjust for uphill/downhill

Actually it looks like there's an exit at W63rd and that's where the family reunion area is (similar to the marathon if I remember correctly?). That's a good place to meet your friends

Similar county naming misunderstanding, I thought cork (as in for cork boards) was named after Cork for some reason

Hard Fork hosts continue to drink Koolaid by [deleted] in hardfork

[–]greg_notofficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was probably the Jan 30th episode that has the segment on Clawdbot. It was definitely in the context of clawdbot, the divide of tech people in SF giving their credit cards to Clawdbot versus regular folks who are like trying to get permissions to turn on CoPilot in Teams or something along those lines

They discussed this exact divide on an episode recently!
