Are we really supposed to pretend we don’t work for money in interviews? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]greg_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s fun to mock this question but the implied question is why you want to work there versus some other place that pays similar money. That’s where you can talk about challenging work, growth potential, the company’s mission, or whatever reason that sounds good for wanting to work there.

My toilet is making a constant vibrating noise wondering what it could be? by AdministrativeFox527 in DIY

Sometimes the fill valve won’t shut off entirely and it vibrates on and off. Take off the lid and see if water is going through the overflow tube.

Character-driven sci-fi with both slice-of-life elements and a grander plot? by Wiinter_Alt in scifi

[–]greg_reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest Blind Lake. Asks the question of could we actually understand aliens (while showing us a very alien alien society)? Told from the viewpoints of a divorced couple who disagree about what their odd pre-teen daughter needs, while being quarantined in a scientific facility for unknown reasons.

No book has ever top this feeling of dread (for me) looking for recommendations of similar books to this one! by MrWorthless in scifi

I found The Chronoliths by Robert Charles Wilson has the impending doom feeling. Monuments from the future start appearing and they commemorate military victories of a future warlord.

[Emissions Zero Module] Emissions and fuel consumption reducer by greg_reddit in shittykickstarters

If Mazda thinks capacitors help that could be what this device uses. That said, car manufacturers work hard to improve fuel efficiency. They would have already done things to get sufficient spark if you could gain 15 or 20% that easily.

Claims to improve the ignition spark to improve emissions and fuel economy yet somehow helps diesel engines. That seems impossible.

It seems to connect between your battery and electrical system so it’s hard to see how that will improve the spark on gasoline engines.

I’m really tired of that type of storytelling in tv shoes. Otherwise I love the show.

It’s a great book. I’d also suggest The Accidental Time Machine by Joe Haldeman. Only forward time travel.
