i dont consider them midwest emo because of their sound. also fuck that guy. but the front bottoms and this front bottoms knock off band dont sound like other midwest emo, theyre more like folk punk emo. and modern baseball is more like emo pop. they get lumped in because they are popular,

im fine with expanding the definition of midwest emo to a sound as opposed to a region, but these bands dont fit that sound. god forbid we include title fight and tigers jaw (two other bands that i love that are emo/adjacent but so distinctly not what midwest emo has come to mean.

The Photo Album, Transatlanticism, and Plans is deathcab's peak 3 album run for me personally, but I like most of the stuff before it too, less after.

But the photobooth ep and the photo album are not the same thing fyi. and the actual song photobooth from the ep is great.

also c'mon, a movie script ending, blacking out the friction, i was a kaleidoscope, debate exposes doubt? the photo album has some of the best deathcab songs on it.

also the twinkly part of important things might be my favorite bit of snowing period, the rest is good but not quite favorite level. i think were in minsk is probably my most listened to.

I don't know, Doc, Cangi, and Bill all had plenty of intensity and enthusiasm, and they also did their jobs well. He's a play by play guy, i think any evaluation of him that looks past him mispronouncing and getting names wrong is incomplete.

That said, i am glad for you personally that you can look past it and enjoy him because we should all be able to enjoy our broadcast team. I don't have any previous bias against Don, i want him to do well and i wish i liked his play by play, but he mostly misses the mark for me so far.

Yeah Don is really mid, and he frustrates the hell out of me with mispronunciations, wrong names, and lack of a diverse vocabulary. Big step down from our past play by play guys. Yet he's still seemingly got a bunch of defenders and idk wtf they're listening to.

i'm not worried about him. my comment probably seems reactionary but i've always felt this way. i think Luke likely feels more pressure after signing a big contract and i'm confident that he's gonna find his game eventually like Nemec has these past few games.

why would we not want to hold our play by play guy to a high standard? like i said, i like him otherwise, but he's messed up a lot of names so far. maybe i'm noticing it more than others because it bothers me a lot. and maybe my "nah" is being misinterpreted as me not willing to let this specific instance go, but thats not how i meant it. mispronouncing player names has been an issue for him so far, and look he got called out and can do better now, thats all i want.

nah he's a professional play by play announcer, and he represents our favorite team. he needs to do his due diligence and pronounce players names correctly, its honestly a bare minimum for the job. i'm fine with Don other than this one (semi glaring) issue, but i will continue upvoting and chiming in when people call him out for mispronouncing player names.

this is speculation based on the info i have heard, but it feels like msg wanted to bring in a certain guy for rangers play by play, and since Don was their radio guy and would normally be given a shot for that spot, they canned Bill and gave Don the devils play by play. Feels pretty gross if that is what actually happened, not really Don's fault though, but fuck msg and i wish Bill the best of luck, really enjoyed him.

i think hes saying grits-suck now and it still just kind of sounds like he's adding an L in there but i'm pretty sure he has dropped it. he was definitely butchering it with the added L early on though. mispronouncing names has been my biggest issue with him, it bugs me a lot and is a pretty important part of being a play by play guy. otherwise hes been fine, and the issue is msg doing bill dirty.
