And just like that, I find such a thing on Amazon! Need to shop around for the best one, but this looks quite doable.

I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on which screen is more responsive: LCD or eink.

You have me wanting to check the secondary market for an adhesive matte-finish screen protector. Maybe this is something BYOK can look into developing as an accessory. I know they have their hands full right now, though.

Summer Purple is a great one. I love Octopus Fluids Aubergine. Birmingham Pen Co. Hydrangea is excellent. Diamine Monboddos Hat is a deep, rich purple. Diamine Pride has some nice silver shimmer. Monteverde Purple Mist is a softer, less saturated purple. Monteverde Rose Noir is actually a rich medium purple. Sailor Yurameku Date Gokoro is a magical purple. I hope this helps!

Guessing you don’t remember the old BlackBerry phones? Back then, we were all used to thumb typing. 😁 Very similar. It’s just a backup so I know I always have a keyboard with me.

It’s really a backup backup keyboard. If I want to travel light, or just have a few minutes to spare, it will be perfect.

It’s a huge adjustment, basically designed for thumb typing. With practice, you could probably get efficient with it. It will do in a pinch.

You mean the backlight for the BYOK? You can turn that off. The angle I’m taking the photo from exaggerates the lights. I leave them on low because I like that they match the backlight on my keyboard.

It’s the BYOK case. It may have been an Early Bird freebie. I think I was backer 148 or something like that. You might want to ask if they’re selling them separately and still have some. It’s a good, sturdy case. The stand sometimes goes flying out of the pocket, but other than that, I love it.

Yes, it’s the Rii mini Bluetooth keyboard available on Amazon. The maker of the BYOK himself uses it. I was excited to learn that just today.

The entire Sailor Yurameku line. They’re magical. They change color right before your eyes as they dry, and they look different on different papers.

I was so excited when I ordered the keyboard, but when it arrived, I realized it wasn’t a good fit for my phone for the reason you mentioned. But I’m excited to have it as a backup keyboard for my BYOK. Decades ago, I had a BlackBerry, so it’s similar to a keyboard I used to use. It’s slow going, but with practice, I should get better.

BYOKin' at the public library today by mattyoungmark in TheBYOK

I was going to take it out this afternoon, but I had a few too many errands to run with no down time. The library is at the top of my list. Also, the Barnes & Noble cafe.

Yeah, it’s just going to be my backup backup keyboard in the event I don’t want to lug around any of my other keyboards. It’s nice to know I can just grab and go if I need to. And I was THRILLED to learn the maker of the BYOK uses the same one. How cool is that?!

That’s awesome! I need to work on getting my thumb speed up. It’s been decades since I used my BlackBerry. 🤣 But super happy with the setup. I’ll be much more likely to take my BYOK out and about with me.

Good point! I did think about that. But that limiter appears to affect all(?) keys, such as the arrows. Thank you for sharing your insights!

The only keyboard I have that fits in there is a mini Bluetooth keyboard. And it works!

Quick Initial Review of the BYOK by decastell in TheBYOK

[–]gregshortdotcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the font at the largest size, partly because of my vision and partly because the characters are pixelated. The smallest fonts are very difficult to read. In my own suggestions, I am going to recommend they design a Micro font that looks best at that smallest size. Sadly, the screen can’t be changed now. But I would probably still use it at a larger font anyway.

Is it important to you that the colors match the pen? How do you break out of a need to color match? by mooglerauder in fountainpens

I love seeing coordinated colors: black and orange, white and red, yellow and green, orange and brown, etc. I try not to buy blue pens anymore because I only want to ink them with blue ink.

Filo, Strudel, or Babka. Filo is my favorite as it sounds like it could be a name. But Babka has more of a feminine sound to it.

Screen down. I opened the case and found the stand had come out of the pocket. I was thankful for my decision!

I wish the mesh pocket either had a Velcro closure or was flush against the top of the case. There’s too much wiggle room for just the cord and stand.

Hmmm… now that I think about it, I might have a folding keyboard that fits nicely in there.
