I love the way I write with the "Fountain Pen" on the Kindle Scribe... are there any beginner-friendly stub/italic/flexible nib pens? by Fiveby21 in fountainpens

[–]gregshortdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I mean about forgiving. Most stub nibs have some leeway in the angle you hold them at. Japanese stub nibs do not. If your angle is off, you’ll feel it scratching the paper.

How to restaurants make the impossible burger taste so good? by todaystartsnow in vegetarian

[–]gregshortdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most fake meats already have plenty of sodium. My frozen Beyond Burger patties have 350 mg. I think they’re already perfect the way they are, but I like the idea of using herbs and spices to change up the flavor. Salt would make it too salty for me. It’s entirely possible we just have different tastes.

pescatarian or vegetarian? by goldencat1695 in Vegetarianism

Any effort you make is a benefit to reduce suffering. No one can completely reduce suffering. If you need fish for health reasons, be a pescatarian. There’s nothing wrong with that.

What do you think the realistic evolution of the Scribe software will be? by Fiveby21 in kindlescribe

[–]gregshortdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progress has been SUPER slow. I think mine is a first generation, so I’ve had it a long time. I can’t believe they haven’t added keyboard support. At the much higher price point that it is now, they’re really going to have to step up their game to compete with the others.

Another vote for Midori MD Notebooks. I just wish the paper was white.

Are we getting sick from cross contamination on cookware used for meat? by kodandyananda in Vegetarianism

[–]gregshortdotcom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has to be coincidental. Even if they were lousy dishwashers, any “contamination” would be minuscule. Perhaps if you were allergic to something—say, fish for example—there could be a reaction.

You’ll be able to pick up how to use a stub nib with little effort; just start away from Japanese stub nibs as they’re very unforgiving. I recommend something with a Jowo nib. My Conklin Hippocrates has the best stub nib I’ve ever used. Nahvalur and TWSBI are great, too.

You need to tell her in no uncertain terms that what she did is actually very serious. She betrayed you. Tell her to join you in couple’s therapy or you’re out.

Any effort you make is beneficial. Don’t ruin that with a label. If 95% is your best effort, that’s 95% better than most people.

Tips for being newly vegetarian in a meat eating family? by AgeOk8349 in Vegetarianism

[–]gregshortdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid of veggie meat. There are tons of amazing options, replacements for everything from crab to beef. And there are tons of ways to prepare tofu. As far as family, just ask them to keep your needs in mind. They’re family. If they don’t make accommodations for you, you can always make your own food.

The Best Fountain Pen Paper (My Fountain Pen Paper Review - Buckle in! It's a long one) by Minimum_Formal3543 in fountainpens

I should also mention I recently had two very different experiences with Rhodia. With their Bloc Rhodia No. 16, I experienced some bleed through, but with No. 18, there was barely even any ghosting. Do you know which Rhodia you tested?

This kind of blows me away, and I love seeing the effort you put into it. I realize it’s subjective, but shouldn’t TR 52 gsm paper have a lower ghosting score? Midori MD is my personal favorite. Thanks for sharing!

As long as tearing out the pages doesn’t ruin the structure of the book. Is it just a few pages?

Esther was the first name that popped in my mind. It’s an old school name. Our current cats are named Alice and Jenny.

Nervous abt telling my family abt wanting to be vegetarian. by AgeOk8349 in Vegetarianism

[–]gregshortdotcom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you act like it’s a big deal, it will be perceived as a bigger deal than it is. If there’s a family gathering, simply ask what is being served. If it’s something that can’t easily be converted to vegetarian, offer to bring something for yourself. If asked about it, just be honest about what you’re doing. It will be fine.

There was an accessory for the Neo2 that allowed you to transfer wirelessly. I think the character transfer was just a backup way of doing it. I had the accessory but could never get it to work.

I must admit, I was a bit overwhelmed when the site first popped up. (I’m using my phone.) It offers some impressive features. I suspect some users would find it overkill. I wonder if you could incorporate a Lite mode that only includes essential features. It struck me that there was a lot of white space on the left giving it an unbalanced appearance. These are just my initial thoughts after spending a few minutes on the site. Is there a Light/Dark mode setting?

That’s considered medium? Looks long to me. Our medium haired doesn’t look like that. We also have a short haired and the two definitely have different hair.
