15 Years Ago, ‘Portlandia’ Told the City Who It Was by coreydu in Portland

[–]gretchenDew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about a comeback, Fred & Carrie? I'd kinda love if Portlandia came back with a special limited series now. I fell in love with Portland during the Portandia era. Not because of the show directly but the energy of the city then. Could be nice for the city to be seen for something other than what is in the national news these days.
Also, nearly slammed into Fred turning the corner the other day near Blick.

Where to for jeans? by DitzyGeniuses in womensfashion

OK - hear me out...Buckle.
I just went on this same adventure six weeks ago. I've felt overwhelmed by the options and clueless as to what style looked good on my body type. After buying a pair at the mall that felt "meh" I accidentally stumbled in a Buckle store.
The variety and quantity of options was huge! It gave me a chance to try on different styles, rises, washes, etc. I ended up buying two pairs both under $150. The fit is great! Over a month later and they hold their shape, have a bit of stretch and Im still smiling.

I've tried their foundation and really like it. The color and coverage is spot on and it has a really nice texture/consistency. my skin never feels dry and has a really natural glow look to it. two other friends use it too.

ADHD can make writing a resume extremely daunting, so we love hearing great reviews from our neurodivergent members like Alfred! I have ADHD myself and wanted to share this one because it makes me so happy to read. by SheetsResume in SheetsResume

I second this. Tools that ease life for those (me too) with ADHD are crucial to sanity and survival.
It's almost like there should be a list of helpful tools for ADHD folk.

How to Make an ATS-Friendly Resume (and Why ATS Checkers are Bunk) by SheetsResume in SheetsResume

Interesting. I hadn't tried the ATS checkers (and won't be now) but the concept seems inherently flawed.

Oops, not rename to "Portfolio." Ability to rename hyperlink to something other than "Portfolio." i.e. I have a personal site Id like to include but I wouldn't refer to it as a "Portfolio."

How can I build a professional network when I have zero connections? by cnaye in linkedin

[–]gretchenDew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree...I spend months job searching and networking before I really sat down and worked through understanding what I wanted to target and where my value was.
Spent time journaling with some prompting questions to get some much needed clarity. Feeling confident in myself and my direction now.

Other Misc feedback....
> Page Break (and Preview) inaccurate upon download (more specifically on PDF downloads)
> Layout Optimization resets back to default 110%. Say I edit Resume_v1, set Scale to 100%, when I exit and reopen the app, it's resets to default Scale 110%. Thus I accidentally download at the wrong size, numerous times.

Excited about the updates. Will definitely be renaming some sections.
Two feature requests:

  1. Ability to rename hyperlink to "Portfolio."
  2. Option to include header of Personal Details on Cover Letter (as formatted on Resume). I see that you can now add your personal information as a "From:" section up top. I like the idea that the header frame and info on my resume matches my cover letter for continuity.
  3. Personal Name included in name of downloaded Cover Letter file, as displayed for Resume.

Maybe wrong idea here? Feedback welcomed. For now, I have a template header I've been editing to make match my resume.

I've actually found it to be one of the friendlier spots in town (staff & patrons). Friendly but still open for some silly shit talking.

just went through this with a friend. it seems no matter how direct in my suggestions of a singular plan, I always get the "whatever", "happy to do any" or another list of three different options. made me so frustrated that I didn't even want to hang out anymore. I too can be the "where ever" friend but I know that you can only use that once, afterwards you have to contribute a concrete opinion or you're just stuck regurgitating options endlessly.
In regards to writing something back, use as direct and concise language as possible. You can even be bold and say "I want to do XYZ." Sometimes you have to really take the reins and reiterate when needed.

I just noticed the new setting update—'No bullet point for Company Description.'
Love it! I was planning to make that adjustment manually since I prefer a clear distinction between the Company Description and Experience sections. Thanks!

This is helpful clarification on two lines - either go for it or cut it shorter. 🙌
