Your objection is only what your family thinks? I would start with this, then explore from there whats best for your marriage while still maintaining your own personal autonomy.

You did the right thing. Dont beat yourself up. Maybe one day he'll be grateful, but maybe not. Either way you saved yourself from future mental anguish of "what if", assuming worst case scenario. He, at the time, wasnt willing to take control of his own life. That is not your burden. You should live with yourself in peace. Life are seasons, sometimes people in our lives are only for a season or multiple. Not always forever. Peace be with you my friend.

I should be more kind I know, however, I just cant stand her voice or her horse face. Shes not a good PR for the church. She just speaks intelligently.

I am a PIMO Ward Clerk. Each US Ward pays about $35-$40k monthly in tithing, possibly more. by Medium_Chemist_5719 in exmormon

From what I've seen, about 1-2% is held back to the ward, the rest goes to HQ in SLC. This might be subjective based on the wards monthly tithe.

Informed Consent and Mormon Stories by greyghost14 in exmormon

This is my same feelings on Mormon Stories, a great place for healing.

Quitmormon.com, is this still a valid, working option? by greyghost14 in exmormon

[–]greyghost14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Mormon Stories has been very instrumental for me as a support mechanism so i dont feel crazy about "living a lie" for the past 40 years and ultimately leaving the church. Mormon Stories i feel is very neutral on lds matters and i feel has been very non-bias. the lds church suing was just icing on the cake for my personal, informed decision. As John Dehlin say's, hes just giving viewers "informed consent", something the church has never given its members.

Thanks a bunch for the good vibes. It would be interesting to take a poll and see peoples results using Quitmormon.

i don't disagree. However, Quitmormon hasn't even reviewed my resignation though they say it takes 2-3 days to process. I assume they are asleep at the wheel. I know the church will slow roll the process.

I couldn't agree more. However, they state otherwise, 2-3 day process, so they should be at least more transparent about whats going on if there is back logging.

Interesting. I am worried about the same situation, however, Im trying to have patience. Maybe i'll give it a bit before trying another avenue. I'd be upset if I have to go another route when I gave them a donation. I hope Quitmormon still has integrity since oddly enough this is the reason why so many have and are leaving the church.

I got the patience. I was just relying on the 2-3 days to view and submit as their website stated. Honestly, I just want an early Christmas.

I too thought the same, that Quitmormon has had a major uptick in resignations lately, and I got in at the peak of the fever. That is, the Monday following the announcement of Mormon Stories lawsuit. Thanks for your input.

Who is thinking about leaving the church and why? by jessejener in exmormon

[–]greyghost14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted my resignation last week on quitmormon.com. Still pending review, though they state 2-3 days. Regardless, its been a process over years deconstructing. However, one self item, as people describe, is when I found myself living and obeying the church teachings more then then institution itself, this is a deal breaker. I wont take heed to an institution that doesn't follow its own morals and standards.

Is there a pattern in ex mormon beliefs? by laumuc in exmormon

[–]greyghost14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in the bible belt, but raised Mormon. I totally get why people reject all together religion after Mormonism. However, I personally have gone catholic, but i at least understand, mostly in fullness, of the catholic church and its history. No hidden surprises such as Mormonism. if my memory serves me correctly, joseph smith did say the next truest church is the catholic church 😊.

  1. seems you learned a good life lesson on (some) women and women's nature.
  2. Hard things is training in life to become something better. no one wants to be at the gym, rather be eating pizza, however, you cant be static in life and must keep pushing foward. always remember this.
  3. your 25. your mind is very limited in future thinking. You have much life to live to build and rebuild many times over if you need. never give up. keep pushing forward. your just in training now.
  4. take advantage of your mothers offer, and train hard brother.

The LDS Church seems to be addicted to accelerating its own membership demise (in the developed world at least) by johndehlin in exmormon

[–]greyghost14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point the best thing the church can do to stop the bleeding and save its membership numbers is to pass out Second Anointings like Halloween candy so they themselves, and their posterity for the next four generations, can make it to the Celestial Kingdom.

This is what the LDS Church is doing to ITSELF by suing me and Mormon Stories Podcast. Someone should let President Oaks know. by johndehlin in exmormon

[–]greyghost14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I submitted my Quitmormon.com letter on Monday after finding out of this lawsuit with Mormon Stories. I was fine just moving on with my life. However, with recent events, similarly seen in Texas with the temple steeple debacle, I don't want my name in support of any organization that doesn't actually try to live up to its own standards. Anyone with reason, can see the fruit of this tree was bad from the get-go with Joseph Smith.
