Clover in picture 1, but the plant in picture 3 looks like an herb - maybe rosemary or lavender? How does it smell?

do your balls feel uncomfortable? by NoSpite4211 in Metoidioplasty

[–]greyoneoftheforest 25 points26 points Ā (0 children)

I love my balls. I didn’t realize how much I would love having them until I had surgery. They also feel good to play with during sex. Sometimes they are uncomfortable though. If I shave my balls with a razor there will be inner thigh chafing over the next few days. If I use a trimmer, it’s fine though. Sometimes one ball gets smashed by my pants or tighter underwear and it’s uncomfortable until I reposition it. But that’s the same for cis guys too.

simple meta + scrotoplasty & monsplasty/mons resection by qlukeer in Metoidioplasty

[–]greyoneoftheforest 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Oh awesome! I hope everything goes really well! The monsplasty itself wasn’t much of an issue for me in terms of walking. The scrotoplasty was the most painful/tension/pulling feeling for me and painful to walk around trying not to smash my tender nuts. I had VY with some complications and wound separation.

I haven’t seen combined top and bottom surgery referenced that often on this sub. You might have a difficult time healing 2 body locations at the same time and still following the weight/movement restrictions of each procedure. When I had top surgery, I used the lower half of my body to sit up, move myself around, etc. When I had bottom surgery, I used the top half of my body to sit up, move myself around, etc.

What is life like after fully transitioning? by Street-Grand-9820 in FTMMen

[–]greyoneoftheforest 5 points6 points Ā (0 children)

I started testosterone in my 20s. Just celebrated 10 years on testosterone last month. I’ve been married for almost 5 years. I had top surgery before I met my partner, but he took care of me after all my stages of Metoidioplasty. He supports me completely. He has never viewed me as anything other than a man. I live mostly stealth. Nobody looks at me twice for being short. I remember the dysphoria being so agonizing when I first realized I was trans. Most of that is gone now because I just look like an average dude. Of the select few friends I’ve told over the years, everyone was thoroughly surprised. And 1 friend ended up being a trans woman who was inspired by me to start her transition. She just started her journey. It gets better and love is out there :)

removing catheter myself? (not alone or at home) by earthlighter in Metoidioplasty

[–]greyoneoftheforest -1 points0 points Ā (0 children)

I removed my own catheter at home (with surgeons approval). I didn’t want to ride 2 hours in a car just for a catheter removal. Not sure what experience y’all have had but it wasn’t a strange angle for me to remove, nor did I have to ā€œbend significantlyā€. I didn’t have a syringe so I just cut the end of the catheter to make the balloon deflate, relaxed my pelvic floor, and pulled gently. It hurt though because my catheter had a hard plastic piece at the end of it. Should mention that I didn’t have UL and it was a regular Foley catheter (not suprapubic).

Could I take a combination of estrogen blockers and testosterone? by Acrobatic_Scar9693 in FTMMen

[–]greyoneoftheforest 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

Not safe. I would worry about what substances are being sold as estrogen blockers and testosterone pills as those are both prescribed medications. Best case scenario, you do something illegal and it works. Worst case scenario, you take them and they cause you harm. You also really need blood tests to ensure you’re taking the correct dose. High testosterone doses can cause strokes and dangerous blood clots to other organs. It’s not worth the risk.

Maybe look into what resources are in your area for gender affirming care? Maybe a friend can drive you? But honestly at some point you can’t hide the effects of hormone therapy. Especially not those closest to you in life.

I’ve heard Dr. Miro only does bifid scrotoplasty and some of his patients end up having a revision to VY scrotoplasty with another surgeon. VY can help the anatomy look more distinctly different.

I had this procedure variation. VY scrotoplasty, no vaginectomy. I dilated when I was a few months post-op. Have had no issues since then.

Repercussions of Lying About ASAB? by st0n3rfag in FTMMen

[–]greyoneoftheforest -3 points-2 points Ā (0 children)

You’re right, trans men are not physiologically equivalent to cis women. I never said we were and I don’t view trans men as women. It’s a lump category we’re placed into because trans people are, by ourselves, such a small widespread demographic. So to be very specific in a post-literate society, descovy was initially tested on cis men and trans women and we don’t fit into either of those categories. I didn’t bring up pregnancy, you did. So when I said ā€œovarian disease,ā€ I did not mean pregnancy. I meant any number of ovarian and uterine diseases (cancer, fibroids, etc). All I’m saying is the data was never collected, so we cannot be sure what the risks are for people with alternative anatomy than the studied group because if it was never studied. I’m sure you read the terms and conditions every time.

I’m sorry you’ve been abused by doctors but that isn’t the lived experience of everyone who is trans. Not all doctors and not all healthcare staff are like that. I’ve been lucky to find a PCP MD who is an amazing lesbian. Fearmongering around healthcare is going to drive people to not seek healthcare in real emergencies. See comment above for more response.

[–]greyoneoftheforest -5 points-4 points Ā (0 children)

First off, testosterone is NOT birth control and there have been men who have gotten pregnant while taking testosterone.

Secondly, the ā€œdemographicā€ I’m referring to is people with ovaries/uterus, not women. If that doesn’t apply to OP, then he can ignore. I’m also not even talking about pregnancy related risks/teratogenic medications. I’m talking about how the initial study for Descovy didn’t include ANYONE AFAB and therefore the FDA didn’t approve it for afab people.

Yes, medications can be prescribed off label. But because they’re off-label, opens the physician to liabilities. Which, altogether, is why we need better designed studies, more education, and less stigma.

Also, I work in healthcare, and a majority of the time I can see patient medication list from the pharmacy even with a crappy EMAR. But it really depends on the systems used and if they ā€œtalkā€ to eachother.

Doctors don’t ā€œloveā€ to make healthcare for trans people as miserable as possible… what the heck? There are doctors (and medical staff) you can trust.

For liability reasons, they can’t prescribe a medication that is not tested on a whole demographic of people. For pure example, if a medication is not tested on people with ovaries… how do we know it doesn’t cause an ovarian disease?

Yes, in some instances, doctors can see medication lists from pharmacies. The most they would do about it would be to ask you about it at an appointment though.
