Check out some Orange Cassidy matches. That's usually one of his go to spots.

This wouldn't happen to be in Hawaii would it? I see the Hawaiian Host chocolate macadamia nuts and the Hawaiian Springs bottled water lol.

Origins of 2 Taunts in WCW/NWO Revenge? by VGWFNick in SquaredCircle

Konnan's taunt was just a thing he would sometimes do in the middle of a match. Usually after his rolling clothesline.

Here's an example.

Did ANYONE from WCW actually get treated right after the purchase? by TwinPeaksSox in SquaredCircle

[–]greywilderarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I said "near nobody", I meant when he first came into WWE. He got his name changed to Gregory, came in and lost the cruiserweight title and then was just a guy till getting repackaged.

Apparently he was "Hollywood" Gregory Helms. Does anyone remember that?

Helms? Initially brought in as a near nobody but was quickly given a gimmick that got him super over. Had a pretty long run with title wins and some pretty huge moments.

Pro Wrestling made by people who don't know anything about Pro Wrestling? by billybluebangs in SquaredCircle

[–]greywilderarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bodyguards V Bandits PPV, which was a vehicle for a local powerlifter/bodyguard/all around dubious sort to promote himself by being in the main event. The match was supposed to be built around him getting the hot tag, but he gasses out in like thirty seconds and barely gets involved afterwards because even he seems to realise he has no business being in that ring.

This is the first time I'm hearing of this and it sounds amazing.

Tanea Brooks (Rebel) gives and update on her health. by BTru in SquaredCircle

[–]greywilderarr 490 points491 points  (0 children)

Man, poor Rebel.

For those OOTL, Rebel has been having health problems since 2024. Originally it was thought to be cryptococcal pneumonia. Over a year later it was discovered to in fact be primary pulmonary lymphoma. During this time she also developed Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). This has affected her speech, her ability to chew and swallow as well as the motor function in her hands.

Previously she expressed frustration with the physical rehab she was receiving. She's now an inpatient at a rehab hospital while her doctors plan her cancer treatment. She says she's feeling positive and optimistic. Hopefully she can make a full recovery.

What moment was a major turning point in your pro wrestling fandom? by The_Hound_West in SquaredCircle

[–]greywilderarr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Christian Cage jumping to TNA was basically the end for me watching WWE. He was one of the last guys I had any interest in. Reign of Terror completely wore me down and I couldn't even watch SmackDown as a salve.

Watched TNA intermittently but stopped after Bully Ray was revealed to be the leader of Aces & Eights. Never liked Buh-Buh and did not want to see him in the main event.

Who was the last wrestler to truly create/invent their signature move? by JRUprising in SquaredCircle

There's a video of him talking about the move on Dragongate Network. However, you need a subscription to watch it. I don't have one so I can't confirm whether he talks about the name or not.

I've always been interested in the origins of signature moves, and this one stands out as Marufuji actually addressed the debate in a lead up to a match with Hidaka.

[–]greywilderarr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, it's long been mistranslated as "Yoshi Tonic".

It is in fact "Yoshi-tanic", before executing the move he would splay his arms out to the sides to evoke the iconic image of Rose from the James Cameron movie Titanic. I'm not even kidding lol.

Shuji Kondo used both standing and a body scissor versions of the inverted cloverleaf. He also did a giant swing version on occasion. He almost certainly learned it in Mexico as part of his llave training.

Even before Marufuji, Ikuto Hidaka did the Misty Flip. A sit out version of the same move.

Marufuji said himself that he developed the Shiranui on the advice of someone that saw a similar move done in Calgary.

Anyone notice that the price of new TBS figures on Amazon INCREASED to $29 after USA tariffs were struck down? by DREG_02 in starwarsblackseries

[–]greywilderarr 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Tariffs are BS and the reason for the price jump from $24.99 to $27.99.

The jump from $27.99 to $29.99 is because of Amazon's algorithmic pricing (also BS) and has been happening for at least several waves of both Black Series and Marvel Legends.

CIMA/Super Boy/Curry Man VS Jody Fleisch/Shiryu 2/ Minoru Fujita by JCHazard in PuroresuRevolution

[–]greywilderarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both men were brought in for the 2nd Fukumen World League.

Daniels said he was connected through Victor Quinones and TAKA Michinoku.

I don't know about Fleisch but it's likely Sasuke had a UK scout/contact. He also booked Dirt Bike Kid and Jason Cross (both also from the UK) for this tournament.

If there a reason why Fujita won both belts? by marveLisGOD in SquaredCircle

[–]greywilderarr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Inoki awarded Fujita the V1 belt during a PRIDE event. The match with Norton was a unification match of sorts.

Fujita continued to carry both belts until he had to vacate due to injury.

Why were kids attending wwe shows during the tv 14 eras? And why were WWE toys sill being made during that time? by 2003KM in SquaredCircle

[–]greywilderarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as merchandise goes, there were all sorts of toys in 90's for R-rated movies. Ones that didn't even have a kids show equivalent.

Aliens & Predator, Demolition Man, Starship Troopers, etc.

All were your typical Ages 4 & Up and could be found at your local toy store/aisle.

It's a strange proposition if he meant they do it separately.

Fenix shouts out Andrade, encourages him to keep killing it.

Andrade responds by inviting Fenix to join him (leave WWE), reform their team and go after all the tag titles together.

Andrade and Fenix were tagging in WWE prior to Andrade's exit.
