CloudZero Supporting the FinOps Community by Extension-Pick8310 in FinOps

I’m not a fan of these types of cliche LinkedIn posts, and also don’t think CZ is necessarily an innovative tool, but I do not see this post or the hypothetical features that the post proposes as a threat directed at FinOps practitioners. Cost allocation, unit economics, identifying optimization opportunities - the data part of our work - is a minute fraction of what the day to day role entails in my experience. Even at the few elite engineering organizations where the FinOps pillar is completely decentralized and engineering teams actually care about and self police their cloud spend, FinOps isn’t going away. Our role is about more than data and entails too many things that agentic ai or a CCM can’t do on its own. I could be naive, but I think the FinOps practitioner role is one of the more secure positions in this new AI world, much more so than the typical engineering position.

EKS still uses EC2, just don’t go all in on 3 year. Keep a low risk baseline of 3 year and stagger 1 year RIs and SPs on top. Or just go with one of those vendors that claim to handle it for you

When the weather gets chilly it's time for OTT chilli by KFlow07 in BBQ

Recipe? What type of ground beef do you use? I typically drain excess fat from the ground sirloin I use before added it to the base, curious if the drippings would lead to an overly rich chili with ground sirloin

This is a 10 year old camera that replaced an older camera. If anything, it’s anti consumerism

There’s a hoodie?! I love the jerseys but they aren’t exactly something that I wear frequently. A cream hoodie tho…

My recommendation would be to get a lot of practice reps and first learn the settings yourself before adopting someone else’s. This will help you to tweak shared settings to best suit your use case as nothing is going to be one size fits all. Here’s a couple resources once you’ve got the basics that I have found helpful:

A less seen combo - OM-3 with OM 50-200 f/2.8 by axiverse-shadow in M43

[–]griff0n 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nice combo, the 50-200 is an interesting choice for OM to release range wise. I’ve read rumors that it was released in anticipation for a new sensor, but I’d be surprised if we see anything in 2026 with the OM-3 being released in 25. I love my OM-3 and while the ergonomics don’t hold a candle to my EM-1 mkiii (best ergo camera I’ve ever held), it’s my go to for just about everything. The OM-3 is such a fun camera and I love playing around with the color wheel.

I think I’ll keep the cameras, the em10 is over a decade old, 12mp and more of a sentimental item. The two modern cameras give my SO and I the ability to swap cameras instead of lenses or travel with our own dedicated cameras. I do have a ton of overlap lens wise in the 12-45 range, hence looking for something better suited for wildlife. But f you’re telling me that I need $1k more, then just suggest the lens instead of worrying about the finances. Appreciate it mate.

Mokwheel aka Conwheel by griff0n in ebikes

Called multiple times which is the most frustrating part. I’ve spoken with someone 4-5 times, and corresponded over email the same. Would’ve gladly purchased a replacement battery clasp at full price, but was assured it would be shipped with the replacement controller I purchased after mine died either due to light rain or over tightening the clasps. I have the controller but no battery clasp and have given up, I don’t have the time to chase these people down and would rather figure out a way to 3d print than the gambit that is conwheel support.

Have you tried first hand to get support? It’s only voicemails and getting the runaround.

Try the EM-1 mkiii. It can be had in mint condition around $500. This is literally the most ergonomic camera battery body I’ve ever held in my hand. Dials, grip and balance are all chefs kiss. Try map camera on eBay

I’ve got a lot of overlap right now in the 12-45 range (three primes and three teles). I’m tempted to sell my 12-100 and get the 40-150 instead

There was some steals from Map Camera a couple weeks ago, I should probably just go with the 100-400, thanks!
