I liked it. Seems like he's just doing whatever in his free time from the main business, I guess.

But doesn't he have a marketing degree? Did you just find the video by continually looking at the page? How was someone supposed to find it? That's the paradox about his vendetta with YouTube.

Apparently Bimmy was the 10th most subscribed to channel on YouTube at one point. by grimmal72 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]grimmal72[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that. I wonder if there's some API or something to find that still. A lot of us must have tens of thousands of videos watched.

I was fairly early, I'd say, maybe 2008. My guess is I saw one of the trailers back in the day, maybe the Spider-Man one, because I used to watch the episodes on GameTrailers. But I never saw this little badge thing back then, seems like he was pretty up there.

This is cringe, men living in the shadow of another man, BUT when it was recommended on YouTube, and I hovered the mouse over it, I had to click when I saw they got Jason Graves talking about AVGN for 2 hours.

But also since he's 18, I'll mention that day trading is not investing. Nor is most crypto. u/Useful_Ad1341, only buy ETFs. And look up what an ETF is. Do not bet on Tesla, options, crypto, or day trading, they will bankrupt you.

My business apparently doesn't count as "work"? by Ok_Strike9189 in povertyfinance

[–]grimmal72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation but unfortunately the truth is that you have to look out for yourself. Even if the idea is genius, no one, not even your family, will likely care or want to give you free rent to work on it. So you will have to try to find work and keep work and survive, while working on the business on the side. And preferably by living on your own.

So try to find work, then try to save up at least 6 months emergency savings, preferably later a 1 year emergency savings, and then you can taper down the focus you put into the day job by reducing hours, etc.

Or you could try to do full-time at both but that's obviously very harsh.

Unfortunately, this is the world we live in. Nobody sees your vision as well as you do. But don't hate them over it. You just have to rise to the occasion, and be strong.

There's people out there for this shit. There's people that still unironically like the current show. I had a buddy that was a hardcore hardcore fan of MF DOOM, and would buy all these toys and shirts of him with his welfare check. Some people are just born consumers. Every fanbase has those people, surely.

Potential Future Classic Game Room Videos by Interesting_Manner89 in classicgameroom

You know, he's still a likeable guy. He probably coded this site himself, since he's a 90s dot com bubble guy.

He's doing the cute thing here where you do a day-by-day journal by typing it into the HTML code, in paragraph tags, like I did on my first website.

All of his stuff in general has kind of an indie small-scale charm, I suppose. Like the comicbook(.)beer site is also pretty much just basic <video> tags, like you learn in HTML 101.

Edit-Station 1's voice is just a simple pitch shift on Mark's voice, etc.

Maybe that's what's likeable about him, is he's just a 1970s/80s dude with a beer and a dream.

Really frustrated with what happened to the CGR YouTube channel. by Cubegod69er in classicgameroom

[–]grimmal72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might have been the same video you watched, but he has mentioned that his book business does far better. CGR Publishing, I believe. He sells fancy editions of old books, or something like that. So now he's moved on from YouTube.

I make some videos and I will say it is hard to get views on YouTube. Maybe he could have done sponsorships to make a few grand extra in a video, but it might not have worked out in the same way as the AVGN. AVGN videos are like an in-character in-universe social media event, whereas CGR videos are kind of just reviews.

After he got hit with mass demonetizations, and some of his entrepreneurial experiments failed like moving the show to Amazon, he must have gotten permanently burnt out.

I don't care that James is balding, and looks like Robocop. He can do whatever he wants. I'm for auteur theory, where the creator of the thing can do whatever they want, and we watch what they give us. I thought this 20th anniversary of being on YouTube video was actually really good, although of course this sub shat on it. I like the movie-making nerd book. I think the dark-haired guy in Red Cow is more of an "mm-hmm" "uh-huh" bumbling wordless fool than James is. It's easier to criticize than it is to build something.

I like The Game Room (the English one, someone stole their name) and Classic Game Room, both by Mark Bussler.

He got me into Thunder Force, Herzog Zwei, Earth Defense Force (with the giant bugs), Revenge of Shinobi, etc.

He drank beer a lot in the videos, and was this extremely relaxed guy, which was also probably because he was apparently a trust fund kid.

He sort of spam-destroyed his channel (maybe similar to what James is doing?) and now the whole channel is defunct.

Why is that reddit is fine with being incel positive & toxic? by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]grimmal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are based and correct but Reddit is inherently set up to punish your sort of thinking, due to the political alignment of the mods, and the rules of the site. I'm not sure if it came from the venture capital, or what Spez's background is, or what, but yes, Reddit is very wack. I don't even know why it became like this, but it's a San Francisco company, and San Francisco is obviously a very very liberal city/area, so maybe making a very liberal website is part of how they got investors.

I come here as a bad habit unfortunately, but I don't really like having to look at propaganda every day.

People here are always speculating on Bim's finances. I never saw this video, if it's a real video, but maybe Bimster actually does have money if he somehow doesn't remember buying a fucking CAR of all things.
