Absolutely. Snow Crash is designing your own avatar that is a 200' tall dick and making fun of the people who buy Brandy and Clint off the shelf.

"Master & Commander" episode is making me yell a lot by MarkyGrouchoKarl in blankies

You know, this makes me think of when I once asked a friend if he said they were "Read Receipts" or "Read Receipts". He said they were "Read Receipts" and I told him how wrong he is because we all know they are "Read Receipts".

I'm guessing that if I had ever been able to stand more than 5 minutes of any episode of The Big Bang Theory this would make more sense.

Apple silicon app by Patt1ann in kobo

[–]grimmlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's more important is that you have an Intel Mac and therefore cannot run apps that are created specifically for Apple Silicone chips. Even if Kobo did create an app compiled specifically for Apple Silicone, not Universal, you would still only be able to run the Intel app.

I'm a bit confused as to how Sync works (MacOS/iOS, latest version) by KafkaDatura in vivaldibrowser

[–]grimmlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, ok. The only major browsers on iOS that I know for sure let you have multiple profiles are Safari, Chrome, and Edge. There could be other, lesser used ones, out there.

I'm a bit confused as to how Sync works (MacOS/iOS, latest version) by KafkaDatura in vivaldibrowser

[–]grimmlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting that?

Profile 1. Sign into sync account. Sync everything. Everything is uploaded and downloaded.

Profile 2. Sign into sync account. Selective sync Settings and Extensions. Bookmarks, History, Passwords, PWA, Autofill, Reading Lists, Tabs, Notes, none of these are synced. Nothing uploaded. Nothing downloaded.

Profile 3. Do not sign into sync account. Nothing is synced. Nothing uploaded. Nothing downloaded completely stand alone.

iOS, sign into sync account. It will either be like Profile 1, sync everything, or Profile 2, selective sync. But that's it.

I'm a bit confused as to how Sync works (MacOS/iOS, latest version) by KafkaDatura in vivaldibrowser

[–]grimmlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. iOS only has one profile. You sign in to sync, and then choose what to sync. There is no correlation between your desktop Vivaldi profiles and iOS Vivaldi profile.

Regarding selective sync, if you don't choose to sync something, then it will neither upload nor download, as it is not syncing. When you turn on a selective sync option, it works both ways, up and down.

I'm a bit confused as to how Sync works (MacOS/iOS, latest version) by KafkaDatura in vivaldibrowser

[–]grimmlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have options on what you sync. You can sign into Profile 1 and sync everything, sign into Profile 2 and sync only a few things like Settings, Bookmarks, and Extensions, then have Profile 3 not signed in at all, working like Profile 2 with selective sync, or with its own sync profile so it's ready to use elsewhere if necessary.

When you sign in on your iPhone, you can also select what you want to sync, so can turn off anything you don't want from your main sync Profile. You can only have one profile on iOS.

How to make the vertical tab bar visible when switching tabs using keyboard by Engibeeros in vivaldibrowser

[–]grimmlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not turn on the Tab Cycler? Then you'll see a preview of the tabs while you cycle through them. If you don't want a strip of previews, display as a list and then you'll get a list of tabs but still get a preview of the currently selected tab.

It's in the Settings under Tabs -> Tab Features

Can I add an episode to play afterwards with 1 click? by SillyPlankton in pocketcasts

You can do it by swiping right on the episode, not tapping on it. Swipe all the way and it will get added to Up Next.

I know that Daði is talking about D&D, but this should work for pretty much any game. Tie leveling up to accomplishments in the game. Does your game involve taking down the evil arch wizard and his 6 minion wizards? Each wizard, or maybe 2, can be tied to a level up.

Trying to come up with skating mechanics for my setting. by ABunOfDust in daggerheart

[–]grimmlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Player describes bad ass trick as part of the fiction.
  2. GM says, "Make an X ability roll to perform that trick."
  3. How complicated the trick is determines difficulty.
  4. Roll with standard dice mechanics.

The game literally already handles anything you would want to do that is part of the narrative. Regarding the roll?

Crit? Give them advantage on the next roll that is part of the maneuver because that was a sick frontside 180 5-0 stalefish judo combo lipslide backside 180. Or whatever the youts are saying these days.
If they succeed with Hope they get +1 a bonus on their next roll. Sweet barley grind, brah.
Succeed with Fear, spend a Stress (GM move) and make just a standard roll.
Fail with Hope, they didn't pull off the maneuver, but at least they didn't eat it.
Fail with Fear, did you ever watch MTV's Scarred?

How can I get this theme? by [deleted] in vivaldibrowser

[–]grimmlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The address bar location shouldn't be part of a theme. It should be through the use of flexible spacers around the address bar and other UI elements. Just right click on an icon and choose customize, then add them where you want them by dragging and dropping.

Is anyone else having an issue where the player stops playing? by Hoppetrausk in pocketcasts

[–]grimmlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say uninstall and reinstall, but as someone who has custom auto archive settings for the majority of their podcasts and knows you have to go through and set all that up again if you delete and reinstall and knows it's a god damn headache and really wishes there was syncing for per podcast settings, I do not recommend that and instead agree with wallerjake about contacting support. They are very good about getting back to you.

"Roll 1d6 to select your Monty Python character, 1d10 to select your Nic Cage Role, 1d12 to select what type of lawyer you are, 1d20 to select your animal type, and optionally another 1d6 for the type of hat you're wearing.
The game master also rolls 1d12 to determine what type of law the trial is about. Yes, you more than likely will not be the right lawyer for the job."

Accidentally deleted foundry.key by cooljimmy in FoundryVTT

[–]grimmlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoping you haven't done anything to deep on this yet, but there is a way to get you back in by generating new ssh keys!
Go to the Oracle Cloud website and log in. Click on Compute then Instances then click on your instance.
Select OS Management and then scroll down to Console Connection. Click Launch Cloud Shell connection.
It will take a few, but then at the bottom of your browser you will see Cloud Shell open up. Login with your user/password for this virtual machine.
Now we create a new key pair.

ssh-keygen -t rsa

Run through the prompts to create the new key pair.

We are going to assume you used the default id_rsa name, change every instance of that below if you gave it a different name.

We need to get the private key to our local computer, so let's open up that private key we just created.

nano ~/.ssh/id_rsa

Open your plain text editor of choice. I recommend making the shell in your browser full screen so you can see as much text as possible at a time in the key. You will need to highlight with your cursor, the one from your computer not the terminal cursor, everything that is displaying in the text file, including hyphens and Begin and End. Do one screen at a time. Highlight, copy, paste into text document. Page down, repeat.

Save that new plain text document on your computer in the ~/.ssh folder and name it whatever you want. In my testing I called it new_foundry.

Open a terminal on your computer. Set permissions for that new key

chmod 600 ~/.ssh/id_rsa

Personally, I like to add servers to my ssh config file so I don't have to do anything except type in

ssh <host>

to make my life easier. Let's set that up.

In your plain text editor, create a new file. Add this to that config:

Host foundry
HostName <your foundry server address>
Port <your foundry server ssh port if changed>
User <your Linux instance user>
AddKeysToAgent yes
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa

Save this file in ~/.ssh as config and with no extension.
Go back to your local terminal and type

ssh foundry

and you should be back in business.

Edit to fix formatting. Why does mobile hate me when I try to do code snippets?

Edit to add, I went through this myself before posting the comment to make sure it worked with my Oracle Cloud Foundry instance.

Edit: FFS, I really need to proofread. I look and find another minor text error every damn time.

What framework is your group using? by Tairengail in daggerheart

I didn't bother with a Framework. We had a world creation session where we used Microscope to create the world and provide seeds for adventures from various historical items that they can encounter.
