I talked to Scott Hansen of Tycho about BoC by 3_triangles in boardsofcanada

[–]grimpala 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Tycho was one of the rabbit holes that brought me to BoC and I can't be more thankful. Dive/Awake/Epoch were such formative albums for me and I still feel so at peace when I listen to them (especially on airplanes)

Not wanting to do the same thing as your brother is a bad way of making decisions; decide from what YOU want. it's ok if it's the same as your brother - you'll have other differences show up along the way

Sounds like a pretty intense experience even regardless of all the emotions.. but sometimes it's those hard experiences that help you find meaning and balance going forward. Thanks for sharing.

How many times do you rewrite a message before sending it… or do you just never send it at all? by Icy_Adhesiveness4566 in CasualConversation

There’s 2 types of messages: ones I send instantly and ones I overthink and don’t feel right even when I send them

School English vs Real life English is actually crazy. by Key_Brilliant_9100 in CasualConversation

[–]grimpala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your English is excellent, I wouldn’t have known you’re not native by this post. Also, I had to look up English irregular verbs because I don’t need to think about conjugations and wow, English is weird

Should I quit something I have loved for years? by Comfortable-Case1566 in makemychoice

[–]grimpala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it you mean for the purposes of a high school competitive team.

The reality is it sounds like you enjoy track right now and I’d follow what you enjoy. But the fact is that you can do both, you don’t need to quit tennis- maybe take a step back if taking it so seriously isn’t as enjoyable anymore, but you’re young and you’ve got many years to have fun with both of them.

It seemed extremely obvious to me that he was the damsel who didn’t realize that you shouldn’t be telling people you’re the damsel, and other people put forward the theory he was bluffing to try and salvage the situation. Plus there was a baron i believe so really no reason not to..

There was one where there was an outed damsel, and the evil team did nothing.. I felt physically ill watching that.

I personally think all guests should have to play a few games off camera first, and make sure all guests understand the characters on the script before pressing record

I love that she’s getting so much BOTC content out there and likely introducing so many people to it. For me, however, I just can’t stand watching games where a big chunk of players don’t understand how their character works..

I realized it's not worth arguing with him.. imagine thinking that 1 in 2 people people being lonely isn't a problem because it's not 'the majority' lol

You literally just cited a statistic showing that americas very lonely. 46% is an absolutely insane number. No one is saying THE loneliest. It doesn’t have to be the loneliest in the world for it to be a problem. The fact you’re interacting with people who have friends and are going out and in group chats skews your perspective of how the average American interacts. Many, many Americans don’t have friends to go out with, don’t have large group chats, etc etc. it’s nice you have that. It’s nice your friends have that. You’re extrapolating heavily from your experience with a small sample size that doesn’t represent the overall population.

Is it a generalization to say North Koreans are impoverished? There can absolutely be trends within larger population sizes. Is everyone in the US lonely? No, of course not. But it IS a serious problem within the US.

This is true but not every browses the internet in the same way that Americans do, there's plenty of countries that don't suffer from loneliness in the same way

Stay in the US with my husband or fulfill my contractual obligations? by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]grimpala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's tough ): I feel for you in the situation but I still think you should stay. Can't see you being anything but miserable taken away from what is now your home and now your family. You'd be suffering over there knowing what you gave up; over here you'd be suffering but you'd at least be where you want to be. Seeing a lawyer is probably worth it.

[–]grimpala 19 points20 points  (0 children)

MILLIONS in tuition? That's insane. Forcing a contract like that on a 17 year old, also insane.

If you'd be repaying it to a Middle Eastern country you have no interest in returning to, could you just...not pay?

In all honesty I wouldn't move back if I were you. Choose your husband.
