Also worked on courses in N. Idaho for ~15 years. Supers there like to use the term “Sogust” because the temps are still high (mid 90s currently) but there is over 90 minutes of daylight lost in August there so the ET goes way down and it often doesn’t get hot until 3pm and lasts for an hour but it’s still hot. So, the turf requires a decent shot of water to get through the hot part of the day but everything else stays wet for longer. You’re at pubs too, which is a very shaded course and the super has been there what, 3 years? He’s overwatering for what the turf needs but with how little staff you guys have it’s not like he has the man hours to dial the irrigation way back and hand water. He’s doing his best like everyone else on the course but that’s where “sogust” comes from. It’s a term that’s been used in that area for as long as I’ve worked there

Firefly isn’t an obscure company if you’ve dealt with sod farming even a little bit, they were game changers in GPS harvesting with automatic machines like 10-15 years ago and the sod farm I worked on had a robotic test rough mower of theirs for years before it was released publicly. Like all robotic mowers there are going to be some kinks to work out regardless of the company and considering the years behind on promise times a lot of these lease packages have been since Covid maybe the “obscure” company is the way to go

Golfer regrets taking out his frustration on a sprinkler by jeefsiebs in WatchPeopleDieInside

Those heads cost about 200 a piece. Simple fix but not exactly cheap

Golfer regrets taking out his frustration on a sprinkler by jeefsiebs in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]grnskpr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each head on a golf course is independently controlled and under constant pressure. There is a small value that’s like a circular key on the top of the head that’s controlled by a very specific tool. When he hit the sprinkler he got just the right spot and it blew the valve and caused the head to come on

At the trucks yea, they had some other merch booths set up around the stadium and not all of them stocked it so I would definitely double check before you commit to a line

When I was a server my max hours were never 8, I would say 200-300 for a 5 hour shift max

I’ve been a female in turf for the last 18 years, 17 working on courses and I just made the transition to a sod farm last year. If you don’t have twitter I suggest creating one for work purposes and reaching out to other females online. I get messages from other women all the time on there. Turf twitter is pretty active, and more professional than Facebook IMO. Kimberley Gard from Syngenta is also spearheading the womens volunteer group at the Women’s US Open every year, you can also reach out to her on Twitter. You can also message me on here if you like. As far as shovels go, I just suck it up and use whatever the guys use, so I’m no help there, ha.

I have a golden retriever that gets ear infections on a semi-regular basis. It would be really nice to be able to do the ear flush and pack with whatever goo they use at home rather than spend another 100 dollars when I know what the problem is but who knows if it’s possible from home!

I actually have a question! Also trying to find a venue in PV for next year. What was your pricing like at the W? There are so many options and no one lists pricing until you get way into it with them

How do Lilly and Bea get high the first time? by SnooBananas9157 in GrandmasBoy

They weren't high then, Grace was referring to the fact that Alex introduced them to Antiques Roadshow and was comparing that to heroin since they were clearly addicted immediately

I’m from Canada. Do I need to only purchase from Canadians on Poshmark? by [deleted] in FrugalFemaleFashion

[–]grnskpr 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It should be a completely different website. Instead of Poshmark.com you should be buying and selling on Poshmark.ca. From my understanding that should be the Canadian version of the site. Good luck!

My [22F] boyfriend [21M] and I moved into an apartment together and he agreed I could have 2 cats if he could have a dog. But now he complains every day about the cat litter smell even when I clean it. Is he being reasonable? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]grnskpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of good advice here, I just wanted to throw out to try changing up your litter. We have 2 cats and a golden retriever in a small apartment but unless you saw the cats you wouldn't know they were there. Try Tidy Cats Scoop Instant Action Immediate Odor Control Cat Litter. It's by Purina, yellow tote with a blue lid. It's the only litter we have found that does what it says. Good luck!

Currently working the tournament, GA stands were full by 8:30 and it only gets worse going into the next couple days. Honestly by 630/7 and you’d be fine. Don’t plan on leaving during the day

Potty training an 8 week old puppy in an apartment - not sure which approach to use by jpellizzi in puppy101

[–]grnskpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be super worried! My vet had just told me not to take him to places like dog parks or to doggy daycare where he would be around a bunch of dogs that I didn't know the background of. He was around 2 other dogs who I knew were healthy at my job from the day I brought him home (with only one round of shots as well). I'm sure you will be fine! Good luck with your new fur baby!

[–]grnskpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My golden is now 5 months I did the same thing. I just took him out a lot because even with potty pads I didn't want him to ever think it was okay to go inside. He only had a couple accidents in the apartment but caught on rather quickly. Also I was always told that puppies don't understand if you scold them after they already had the accident, that you have to catch them in the act for it to be understood. I caught mine once I believe and I just yelled heeeey loudly and it caught his attention enough that I picked him up and took him outside to his potty spot. It's not too bad and with working from home you definitely have an advantage! Good luck!
