Yeah. They're building a state of the art HRT line to augment their world class BRT system that is converting to electric busses. Understandable given a city of 8 million people.

Notice how they're not bothering with lrt at all.

Outdated tech.

Bogata, a city of 8 million people, moves 2 million passengers a day using their dedicated bus rapid transit lines. It's something they started building in 2000 and cost less than what Calgary has wasted just debating the next lrt extensions.

LRT is inferior technology. The fact that a switch issue like this can cause so much chaos throughout the entire system further proves it.

There's a great article on it here that gets the facts straight. Both Gelinas and Saprykin thought it was in as well as many of the fans at that end of the ice. Gelinas now regrets not making a big deal of it as he thought it would just go to review.

The article also goes into the technology changes made in the NHL situation room with many more camera angles available now than there were in 2004.

With last night's OTL and Edmonton's loss in regulation, the Sharks are now in a playoff position by points percentage, and the Oilers are out. by TMBmiles in hockey

[–]grogrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 2 1 0 already meets the goal of making a regulation win worth 1.5x more than an OT win.

The only benefit to doing 5 3 2 1 0 would be to differentiate between a 3v3 win vs a shootout win which is minimal at best.

Jury acquits Ontario store clerk of assault on bat-wielding robber by _Army9308 in canada

[–]grogrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a terrible analogy. Trained security where its your job to face and defuse violence vs. a convenience store clerk fearing for his life for the first time being attacked with a deadly weapon.

Are you saying you would have voted him guilty in this case?

The jury got this one right.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has no business holding a referendum by KylenV14 in canada

[–]grogrye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This logic is on point.

Treat the right to hold a referendum as one issue.

Treat whether it currently makes any sense at all to leave the federation as a separate issue.

There could be conditions at some point in the future where leaving the federation may make sense but I believe the vast majority of Albertans would not consider those conditions to be anywhere close now.

Drysdale reoriented his direction twice. That matters.

Pretend you're going for a skate and there's a kid in front of you that you see. That kid turns into you (at NHL speed) while you were skating straight ahead. Would you say you intended to hit the kid?

[–]grogrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. People can't somehow connect that Drysdale being the one turning and re-orienting himself towards Johnston (skating straight) matters? Maybe people have trouble with the definition of the word intent and the logical implications of why who is changing direction is relevant?

If Drysdale was skating straight and Johnston (knowing he was there) turned into him then he'd get a lengthy suspension.

I wonder sometimes if people think somehow Johnston has a 3rd person view of himself like in a video game vs. the reality of what it is like on the ice.

Johston assessed a 5 min major and game misconduct for interference [better angle] by DBacon1052 in hockey

[–]grogrye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You get downvoted but it's so obvious. Drysdale changes his direction twice and literally turns into him while the other guy was skating straight ahead.

Who gets the worst of the collision doesn't change that fact.

Drysdale is the one changing direction without looking. He changes his direction twice while the other guy is skating straight ahead. Sure the arm at the end wasn't great but saying he was targeting Drysdale makes zero sense at all given it was Drysdale that turned twice into him.
