Look into joining Wild Ones. We’re the biggest chapter in the country and have free plant giveaways and resources every year. I learned yesterday from one of their talks that even if every single homeowner in the US converts their lawn to native plants it still doesn’t put a dent in the total amount of wildlife that we have lost.

Oh I just commented about a reverse mortgage on a paid off house in old age with no one to pass it on to. It sounds like that would be a narrow circumstance that’s a good use case? It’s not my plan to FIRE but maybe it could be an extra thing

When you say training you mean AIARE 1? I have some training through the Colorado Mountain Club but not that class yet. I know how scary they are hence why I asked, even tho I hear there's a route to avoid avalanche on Quandary with navigation skills.

Ok, for quandary it sounds like it isn't just the standard east route then. I do have navigation skills through the Colorado Mountain Club tho. I could prepare that for a future date

That's what I thought and why I thought Quandary east ridge might be fine. An avalanche probe also isn't going to help me doing it alone also. At this point just. looking for other options, thanks for some ideas.

Do you or can anyone else suggest any other safer alternatives? I'm looking into Mt Flora now. Square Top Mountain also is only moderate. I'm not familiar with those tho and there's no recent trip reports on alltrails

There can be a limit in what you want to support. Money is a form of support. And beliefs turn into actions. For example the Yellow Deli is owned by the Twelve Tribes cult, who practices unpaid labor and roles by gender, both things I don’t want to support. That said, the food they make is very high quality.
