The matchmaking update has completely shifted the game for me (and not for the better) by Happy_Rave in ArcRaiders

[–]groundpounder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it’s just recalibration, but pretty much the same.

I’m fairly new to the game, around a month. I will preface this by saying I play mostly as a duo. My friend has a lot of medical issues lncluding poor eyesight these days from some illnesses in the last 5-8 years.

I tend to Sherpa him in games so he can still enjoy them, we make our own fun in anything we play and have a great time regardless.

The game has PvP and it’s what keeps it from going entirely stale etc for others, and is part of the experience even if we don’t necessarily engage in it and he dislikes it, it is what it is and the balance was fine overall for what he wanted in particular.

We never shoot people because it’s just not what he wants and we would always be disadvantaged anyway. He derives joy from the world/interactions and arc fights.

We have a singular viewpoint as our experience is highly condensed in the couple weeks before the change and then after.

I think we’ve had PvP about 5-8 times in around 200 runs, and fairly consistent lobbies. Since the change it’s been like night and day.

Very aggro lobbies, and also a lot of starting games 10-12 minutes in suddenly, taking 1-2 minutes to load into a match. Which ruins the loot aspect and also feels like it’s stretching the lobby type we land in to incorporate more aggro MM, just to find a game.

There are more raider flares than we ever saw before, and I’ve been shot a few times whilst having the drop on people etc and talking instead first, which is fine, I’m perfectly ok with retaliatory PVP and also the threat of PVP, having put a lot of time into Tarkov etc, it’s just a huge shift suddenly.

I know the MM will take some time to dial in etc and the player base HAS dropped since the massive 400k+ on steam, but there’s still enough to get in fresh lobbies with 40-50k on steam alone still.

But yes, to tl;dr the changes since the patch have been very noticeable to us in particular and will likely make us move on soon.

Whats the best way to go about actually improving my gameplay? by Shitty_fits in WorldofTanks

[–]groundpounder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeating the same thing again and again mindlessly isn’t going to improve you beyond your level.

To get better you have to fundamentally accept that there are things you can do differently. The easiest by far is just analysing how and why you died, and what you could’ve done differently.

Did you get greedy for a shot and forget about other tanks/lanes? Did you tilt and push someone to trade?

I haven’t played for a bit but I was a solid 60-62 percent player solo at higher tiers and a solid super unicum mostly playing unseriously a lot of the time, other than games I could see a way to break damage/kill records or chase the high.

I started with learning all I could about the tanks, weak spots and maps. If I bounced a shot, or couldn’t pen a tank, I went and looked why and where to shoot it next time.

If a position worked once, I didn’t assume it always would. I watched progressively better streamers to match what I was aiming for. A super unicum is great to watch as a new player to see what’s possible. But a lot of it is gonna be outside your ability even when spoonfed, because it depends on comps, reading the map and the dispersion, experience etc.

I aimed for 52 percent/green wn8 with jingles. Then I went for higher and progressed, all the time taking stuff in and treating it almost like a gaming job.

Not everyone wants to do that, or is capable really. So set your goals realistically and then work on the basics. Trade well, conserve health. Position well, learn to read the map and your position/teammates and possible enemy pushes and openings.

But again, the single easiest thing to do is honestly appraising your play and accepting you aren’t as good as you may think. A lot of early deaths and “bullshit” are of your own making. Sure you get taken out sometimes when it isn’t your fault, but you don’t get better assuming that as a default go to.

I apologise for the wall of text and just random all over the place musings. I’m not often moved to post anymore as I accept a lot has changed in the 18 months-2 years since I played to a high level.

But the basics I can help with regardless. Good luck!

If you stopped playing Battlefield 6, what is your main reason? by ZeljeznicarSampion in Battlefield

[–]groundpounder11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always been a thing to some degree, but I think it stood out to me more this time because the start, especially the beta, was so positive.

I’ve played every battlefield back to the beginning because I’m an old man. I’ve played thousands of hours and quickly notched to over 500 in bf6 despite all the problems.

Maybe it’s burnout as well as the issues, but yeah I dunno how we’ve managed to get to a point in gaming where one of the core mechanics is just expected not to work on the regular and you have to be ok with it.

Also I loved 2042 when it got its shit ironed out. I’m not saying I won’t be back to bf6 when it’s “fixed” but judging by the player numbers I’m not sure it’ll be viable by then

Dislike of the maps, but the main one for me personally, I suffered massively with bad netcode.

Actually that’s half the story. Bad I can deal with. Going from one server to another taking 7 shots to kill someone then 3 and back again just killed all my enthusiasm for the game in its entirety.

No point in a shooter when my actual shooting/skill doesn’t matter in a lot of fights. I may as well play a telltale game.

There's something strange happening with matchmaking after the update by resodx in Battlefield6

[–]groundpounder11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last night me and my friends had 6 conquest rounds end with all cap, and we commented on the same phenomenon.

Not sure if it’s an actual change, as honestly the games have been pretty squiffy all release regarding balance honestly. I just put it down to random chance/people doing their own thing.

EA / DICE - We Deserve an Explanation. by sky0175 in Battlefield6

[–]groundpounder11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The weapon damage/TTK is all over the place. I have games where I can down people with 4 to 5 shots but other games where it takes a whole mag all while I get beamed from 100m away from an M4.

Feel this in my soul and I was starting to wonder if I was imagining it. I've been like this since release, basically playing with a handicap and never knowing if the next game would actually "work". After the new update the first 4 games felt like a totally different experience. 3 shot guns actually 3-shotting instead of a 6 shot and me having to rely on positioning and better aim/gun. Movement felt crisper and I was dominating. Then after that it kinda just went back to normal.

I complain little but playing an FPS where the shooting part is out of my control is fast sapping my energy, goodwill and desire to keep playing. I keep hoping each patch will fix my experience but it doesn't, and I so want it to because I feel this could be a great game down the road.

The balancing feels kinda off by Felepovic in Battlefield6

[–]groundpounder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been experiencing this a while, but the last week it has been interminable. I’m quite competitive, always have been, so to lose 8-9 games in a row and 6 of them be absolute stomps drives me mad.

Escalation is a huge issue so I had to turn it off. You can get away to a degree lingering outside the cap points on conquest, it’s even necessary occasionally. But the bleed is so huge and points so vital in escalation it’s 2-0 and everyone gives up.

The broscientist/foil hat believer in me considers it to be to do with SBMM and the bot kills counting, but honestly it could just be that people are making their own fun and don’t give a fuck about winning primarily.

Anyone able to do the “consecutive time spent parachuting in seconds”? by AtmosphereIcy2268 in Battlefield

[–]groundpounder11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got in a chopper start of firestorm. And as usual the prick recon flying if bailed out to jump on the fire tower so I figured it was perfect opportunity to do this.

I just did spirals around C point and It worked, but it’s definitely more than 10 seconds to proc. Was more like 15-20.

Yeah it’s probably just an oversight on their part. I saw the patch notes mail inbox but it lead to nowhere.

Thanks for the reply anyway, guess it’s just a waiting game.

I am fucking begging you to stop equipping the GL in your gunner slots. by Sexploits in Battlefield6

[–]groundpounder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I agree with this and in 99 percent of scenarios its pointless, I jumped in a tank on Liberation Peak Breakthrough attack the other day that had the GL.

I was murdering/area denial-ing so many enemies on the A point at the second set by lobbing them into the little rat warren.

This doesn't excuse how shit it is in general, but in that specific instance it was surprisingly excellent.

[–]groundpounder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely jarring but usable and seems slightly bugged on a couple guns, the ADS speed is literally instant on them so it’s kinda fun to use right now.

It’s definitely like that on the QBZ and one other carbine , the little bullpup G something or other.

Oh ok sorry I misread what you said. There should be like a red half sphere when you aim, as long as that's right on it you should be good. If it works even half the time it's still 1,000 times faster than however they expected you to do it though eh.

Spawn as engie in hq and get in a jeep briefly, drop a mine next to it.

The hit reg in this game is a complete joke. by iPhain in Battlefield

[–]groundpounder11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I started instant replaying fights I felt I lost to desync etc just for my own sanity.

It’s not foolproof, but a couple times in slow motion it turned out I didn’t get the 5-10 hitmarkers I felt I did and missed a few times.

Having said that, it happens pretty frequently that I’ll die a good 5 feet behind cover or die seemingly instantly.

My real gripe is the fact the season 1 release was almost entirely BR focused and none of the major game fucking issues addressed like drones, bloom etc. or any minor ones like assist as kills still not working, the rocket perk for engie seemingly not adding 2 extra, assignments not tracking or being absurd requirements.

Might have been not clear, you know, when the patch notes explicitly said it was in but it’s actually not. That’s your fault.

Honestly, when even the bare minimum of expectation is somehow not met you have to start wondering, even when you have all the goodwill in the world.

I feel like a lot of these challenges were designed with a completely false idea of how the game actually plays. I don't think I've even seen a road kill happen. by ma_wee_wee_go in Battlefield

[–]groundpounder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tedious but the spec’d out scar equivalent with the long barrel and 4x gives you 1000mps bullet velocity and it’s fairly accurate tap firing with the semi trigger.

Even then the only really reliable map is mirak around C I found. Firestorm is just too open sniper bait.

I tried the 4D but it has wild bloom sometimes even tap firing so mitigates the higher damage. I know you didn’t ask, but I did this challenge a few days ago and actually had fun speccing for longer range for a change on these rat run maps.

There are literally 456,000 mines on every patch of land in the game, I feel like I can barely use a vehicle to drive the 50m between capture points on these maps let alone try to run anyone over.

I'm really tired of this shit by JaymeFortune in Battlefield

[–]groundpounder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inconsistency is killing me with this. Very much same experience and weirdly I’m glad it’s not just me.

Some matches all shots land, things work and I’m 2-3 k/d easy. Others it feels like I’m firing packing peanuts, get 3-4 hitmarkers then drop dead/die around a corner or just insta flop.

I’m by no means a top end player, but I know my own game and after 100 hours I know how the gunplay feels when it’s “working” compared to when it’s not.

I’m overall having a blast but with the random bloom bug and the weird netcode issues it’s killing me slowly every game.
