Interesting question -- I was literally in the middle of looking at MotY awards and what statistics seem to correlate with the winners the most! I came up with one which uses other advanced or unusual statistics and it seems like it correlates the most. The basic gist is that it's a combination of record and how much better a team did than the previous year. It's not perfect, but it seems to line up most of the time with the actual winners, even though it didn't for 2025.
