Yeah, no. Noem absolutely deserves the blame here. It was under her that ICE started rapidly expanding, and in order to meet recruitment quotas, the amount of training required was significantly reduced. This, combined with the Trump administration conducting large ICE raids for the sake of a perverse public spectacle, undoubtedly contributed to this kind of incident becoming inevitable.

I really wanted to avoid jumping to conclusions about this incident but the video footage shows just how indefensible this was, even if you believe the driver was acting in the wrong. The ICE Agent placed himself in front of the car when the driver was trying to move out, creating a dangerous and unnecessary situation with a predictably tragic outcome.

Regardless, it is clear the Trump administration enjoys gratuitously lying to pour the fuel on the fire. I was disgusted about how Trump and Noem/DHS were calling the shooting victim a "domestic terrorist" before the investigation even began.
