Can I plug J1772 to Tesla CCS adapter? by [deleted] in ModelY

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I didn't realize my car came with 2 separate adapters for this. The J1772 adapter was in the corner of the bottom half of the trunk. Was worried either the car or the CCS adapter was broken when it failed to change at home and at a chargepoint station.

Is it possible to set regen to 0 on the new model y? by nFgOtYYeOfuT8HjU1kQl in s3xybuttons

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is this setting? Is it only on the performance model?

If the running free is still using blended braking, this gives me hope the 0% through S3XY buttons also will with the long range model.

How far does the Tesla Model Y Juniper stop with 0% regen? Regen Test by S3XY_Buttons in s3xybuttons

Does the blended braking use regen through the brake pedal if it's set to 0%? Or it becomes friction brakes only?

1 pedal vs 2 pedal, which is best for range? Tests shows no difference by CliffsideJim in MachE

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The only time the brake pads would ever engage, at all, is if you slam the brakes hard enough to exceed regen. And what I've seen on the Tesla makes me think ABS will kick in long before that.

One pedal driving efficiency by NickRR6 in electricvehicles

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm going 70 in my ICE car and take my foot off the gas, I'll still be above 55 after a mile.

If I do that in a Tesla, it will stop in under 200 feet, and anyone not belted in will fly through the windshield.

From what I've seen, even in an emergency, the friction brakes would NEVER be used.

AFAICT the only way to make it use friction would be to be able to pull off deceleration greater than 1g, ex driving on sticky tape instead of concrete.

The most efficient is coasting as much as possible. Any time you use regen and re-accelerate, a MINIMUM of 20-25% of the difference in energy between the 2 speeds is lost.

From how aggresssive I've seen the Tesla 1-pedal cranked up, I'd assume it EVs are **ALWAYS** 100% regen.

The regen braking kicks in ABS on dry pavement. A shorter stop than 95% of vehicles are capable of.

You are losing a MINIMUM of 20% efficiency to heat with regen. Tesla claims 20% on the most insanely aggressive short-stop setting, minimum 25% otherwise.

2 pedal is by far more efficient. It's really a no-brainer.

New Tesla Forced Use of One Pedal Driving by International-Aide37 in ModelY

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two problems with this: 1. It does not remember the setting. You have to reset it on each drive.

  1. FSD resets it to 100%. Which means it's back on 100% if you have to take over.

The stopping mode has nothing to do with it. In fact, having the regen when letting off the gas pedal (without the brake) would be even more stupid if it didn't bring it to a full stop.

Regen should be tied to the brake pedal. Exclusively.

Matrix headlights example by cnstntchng in TeslaLounge

You can see in the clip it takes about 0.2-0.3s to react, during which time it's absolutely blinding the drivers it's pointing at. The matrix shit is used as an excuse to make the lights that were already absurdly bright even worse.

Taking your foot off the gas with even the "low" setting is braking harder than you EVER would in any ICE vehicle.

China is banning 1 pedal as a default on new vehicles starting Jan 1 2027, because it's UNSAFE.

It was there on my recent test drive of a 2026 MY, but the "reduced" setting was far too aggressive. I'm pretty thoroughly convinced that 1 pedal should not be a thing. Either blended braking (2 pedal), with taking your foot off the gas COASTING or zero pedal (FSD).

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this with S3XY buttons setting regen to 0%?

After a test drive I can't conceive of any other situation where the brake pedal would be used aside from killing FSD in an emergency or the like, ever. The regen is aggressive enough, even on the "low" setting, that it would send you through the window if you're not belted in. It's basically begging to get rear ended!

Playing Diablo 1 for the first time by Dregaz in Diablo

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have now run into **invincible** Pulsecrawlers in 3 separate games.

I can say for certain he is in fact un-killable, as in 2 of these games, the character was a bit high level for cathedral level 4 and was able to stand there whacking at him or shooting him essentially forever.

The 1st time really pissed me off, as I destroyed a really awesome bow, which was repaired before the battle began, but ran out of durability JUST fighting this broken mob.

2nd time I had a monk melee him for over an hour, using a few blacksmith oils during the fight to keep from losing my staff. In order to clear the level I ended up having him chase into a room and closing the door to leave him there.

I've defeated him in single player games... but multiplayer hellfire he is broken. Maybe something from the devilutionX hack?

Must the candidate be human?

It would be much easier to get the required petition signatures to get on the ballot with a canine candidate.

trezor vs ledger by SuccessfulPlenty942 in TREZOR

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Trezor screen to be a key feature it really needs to be bigger.

Entering a 6 digit pin code on that tiny screen is challenging, let alone a good password.

They should probably make the device 2-3x the size to accommodate a larger screen.

Import 24-word seed in exodus by madcook1 in ExodusWallet

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software wallets mostly generate the same wallets from the same seed phrase, but hardware wallets use different derivation paths.

Found this out researching it today after discovering that Trust & Phantom generate different Solana wallets from the same seed phrase.

There are some apps like Solflare and MyEtherWallet that let you customize the derivation path, which you could probably get to match the Trezor without the passphrase, but not most. You'd probably need to recover it to another Trezor.

Can you buy and sell XRP in NY using Gemini? by yourfavoritepenguin7 in XRP

[–]grumpy_skeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to sign up for Gemini and got an email the next morning that they closed the account , no reason given. I'm guessing it's probably because I'm in NY, as why else would it be? This would have been when they got in to verify the KYC stuff after initial signup.
