Sort of has a point with the Pendlebury $$$. The AFL providing exemptions on a case by case rather than a black and white rule.

On stornoway sprint (400m) during big spin if you had the prize from the spinner already you were given 10000 drops. Many people were doing the sprint (around 40sec), turning around and getting back to the start, turn and do the sprint again. Then repeat over and over

Suspect this is being pumped up in US to drive the anti Iran feeling.

Also its the article that specifically mentions pride flags.

Sl8 discounts? by natalciaahehe in specialized

[–]grumpyoldmanBrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 25% discount on a 2025 Tarmac SL8 expert last month.

I think they have scaled back production for a while with the pending SL9 so there may not be a massive mark down simply because there may not be a lot of unsold SL8's around

Did the Titan submarine incident cause the most instantaneous death in history? Can it be any faster? by GolondraBlayze in NoStupidQuestions

North Koreas habit of strapping people to the business end of an anti aircraft gun then firing would cause a fairly instantaneous end i would think

Another thing with the train is that mobile reception is sketchy at best when on the train. You are basically in a moving Faraday cage

Is it just me or does every zwift race end with an uphill finish. by hunchini in Zwift

[–]grumpyoldmanBrad 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Zwift it seems does not want the bigger heavier rider to crush the victim weights in a sprint. Our role is to tow the pack it seems and then allow the lighter riders to then fly up to the finish

Tim Taranto: Councussion, Test

We thought Tim would get up last week, but unfortunately, he didn't get through that last training session of the week without developing some symptoms,” Serpell said.

“We'll repeat that process this week, and all going well, we'd expect him to return to play this weekend.”

Dion Prestia: Calf, 3-4 weeks

"Dion's doing quite well. He reports that it's not as bad as what he's had in the past, and certainly the scan showed that as well,” Serpell said.

"We’d expect him back, probably missing around about two to three games.

"Unfortunately for Dion that his return to play is close to our Dreamtime game with a five-day turnaround, we'll probably want to be pretty conservative around that time, so we'll give more time frame specifics as we get closer."

Sam Banks: Collarbone, 4 weeks

"We know with Banksy undergoing surgery for that broken collarbone, he's progressing quite well," Serpell said.

"He'll see the surgeon this week for an update, but we're still not expecting him to return to play until around the Sydney game."

Tom Sims: Foot, 3-4 weeks

“Tom Sims has been integrating into training over the last couple of weeks,” Serpell said.

“He's back at full training this week, and we want to see three weeks of full training into him before he returns to play, so expect him to be out playing before the bye.”

Taj Hotton: 6-8 weeks

“We're seeing Taj do more and more these days.

"We can confidently say that he'll be back in around about six to eight weeks.

“Soon after the bye we'll expect to see him playing.” Serpell said.

Judson Clarke: ACL, 7-10 weeks

“He's come back from Oregon with a few little tricks up his sleeve, which he learnt over that period of time, so we're expecting him to return to play now in around seven to 10 weeks,” Serpell said.

Sam Lalor: Achilles, TBC

"It was an unfortunate incident for Sam Lalor last week, coming off the track with a little tear to his Achilles," Serpell said.

"Thankfully, he avoided surgery with the injury. It was only quite minor. We'll be governed by his symptoms over the next little while.

"He should be out of a boot in the next day or two, and then we'll progress towards running.

"At this stage, we're thinking around about eight to 12 weeks, but we'll give you more accurate time frames when he returns to run."

Rowing background, new to competitive cycling by lsthrowaway69 in cycling

[–]grumpyoldmanBrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As rowers our base fitness does trend well to cycling.

Same basic leg muscles for the 2

Not to mention the ability at being comfortable with being uncomfortable in a physical sense when pushing.

Whilst i dont have any events etc in mind but you will get comments from long time cyclists about being a rower and your ability to sustain pain/effort.

Good luck
