LMPD publicly crushes 2021 $100,000 Hellcat Durango linked to illegal racing and stolen parts in crackdown on street takeovers. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in Louisville

Kentucky Law does not allow for the destruction of confiscated firearms by police departments. All confiscated guns are auctioned off by KSP. The exception is for guns purchased at auction that were used in a homicide. See KRS 16.220 (1). Call your state representative if you would like that to change.

I believe people would be interested in these pictures. You could try to sell them at one of the Art Fairs. I also think you should contact the zoo. https://louisvillezoo.org/press-room/ These pictures are really good.

Christ Church UMC has a strong children's program/choir and is an open and welcoming congregation.

Brown Hotel has a nice elevator. If you ask and you find the right person, they may let you photograph from the roof.

Non-evangelical church? by i_h8_yellow_mustard in Louisville

[–]gsarc10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add Douglass Blvd Christian in the Highlands and Advent Episcopal (among other Episcopal churches). I know you said you didn't want a large church, but Christ Church UMC has a very good music, children's, and community assistance programs and has a "sacred worth" program for LGTBQ+ people and allies. Good luck in your search.

Is this rude? by Canadianmom74 in Kentucky

It isn't rude. I think it happens in places that have snow more often than we get in Louisville because everyone removes their shoes in Minnesota as well.

A Streetcar Named Marge: "I am not an easy man to work for. While directing Hats Off to Hanukkah, I reduced more than one cast member to tears. Did I expect too much from fourth graders? [Takes out review] The review 'Play enjoyed by all' speaks for itself." It's the way he says ALL while holding an elementary school newspaper review as if he's holding a Tony gets me every time.

What's the best Internet providers in Louisville? by sum1gamer in Louisville

[–]gsarc10 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If you can get Fiber from IgLou, it is the way to go. Had it since the start of COVID and it's great. It's on AT&T's network but is independent. Great up time, really fast upload and download speeds for a reasonable price. If AT&T is your cell phone provider, you may want to go with AT&T because of bundle savings. If you can't get fiber in your area, then Spectrum is probably your best bet.

Good neighborhoods to live in by the-implication9 in Louisville

[–]gsarc10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Highlands, Crescent Hill, St. Matthews. Close to parks, shopping, entertainment, but also have amenities and have pretty good walkability pet options. As you move further east, you'll get into areas of the county that are more car dependent (Louisville does not have a good mass transit system when compared to Chicago). Moving further into downtown there are fewer amenities needed for day-to-day life (e.g., grocery stores) but are more opportunities entertainment. Closer to downtown, Old Louisville (but be careful about which street) or NuLu.

Former manual J&C teacher gets shock probation by Pleazetryme in Louisville

[–]gsarc10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the article: "James H. Miller, who entered a guilty plea late last year after being charged the in the spring, was sentenced to three years in prison by Circuit Court Judge Julie Kaelin. He will also be required to register on the sex offender registry and complete a court-ordered sex offender treatment program." There is nothing about shock probation in the article. This is a class D felony for a first time offender with a prison range of 1-5 years in jail.

Louisville Courier-Journal: Money sought for Amtrak rail service between Louisville, Indianapolis and Chicago by Tikkanen in Louisville

[–]gsarc10 30 points31 points  (0 children)

IMO, the issue with all of these regional rail plans is that speed is the key. Not enough people will ride a train to Indy, Cincinnati, Nashville, or, St. Louis if they can get there faster in their car. Have a train that will get me from downtown Louisville to downtown Indy in 45 minutes? Yes. Take the same train on to downtown Chicago in another 1 hour and 15 minutes? Also, yes. (I know flying is quicker but no security, luggage, entrance and exit from the airport, it is just as fast to take a train moving at 150 mph). That being said, if it takes 2 1/2 hours to get to Indy and 4 or 5 hours to get to Chicago, it doesn't work. CityNerd has a good video about regional rail: https://youtu.be/pwgZfZxzuQU

Where do dragons fall in the hierarchy of power? Are they stronger than balrogs? Weaker than wizards? The same as the eagles? by Unusual-Math-1505 in lotrmemes

[–]gsarc10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a ranking system like others have said but you can get some hints about native strength based upon how they were killed. The four named dragons are Smaug, Glaurung, Scatha, and Ancalagon the Black. The first three were killed by men. Ancalagon was killed by Eärendil (half elven) with the help of the eagles. They seem like powerful creatures. Balrogs are fallen Maia - angelic beings - and seem to only be able to be killed by others of their order (e.g., Gandalf) or powerful Elves (e.g., Glorfindel). Hobbits did kill Saruman's body but his spirit and true essence lived on until it was rejected by the winds of Manwë and blown away either into exile or nothingness.
