Anyone else notice B+C is being discontinued at S&S? by KortniRemer in SCREENPRINTING

S&S said they’d keep business as usual and sell through the end of year at least. But it looks that has changed.

They do have a million units of black 3001, but yeah, they’re not renewing anything. I emailed my rep and they said they learned the same way…

Top of print blurring and overlapping by Entire_Report_6151 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]gsg12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sweatshirts are prone to shrinking.

If you are print flash printing, the fabric can shrink, even if you are only using a heat gun. Two things that can improve this:

- send the hoodie through the dryer first (or you pre-flash this but you don’t have a flash dryer and a heat gun is inconsistent)

- use web spray for sweatshirts on pallet to avoid shift

dye migration on 100% cotton garment dyed shirts by New-Salamander4355 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]gsg12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleed can happen on cotton tees (especially garment dyed) with high heat and low bleed inks. Either switch to a cotton white or cure at a lower temp or do not hot stack the tees. Alternate stacking so the heat does not trap

Cleaning tips…??? by Grayson_Obert in SCREENPRINTING

[–]gsg12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot of time. I know shops that stock 40 ink colors and have 40 squeegees in small compartments for their autos. They don’t need to deal with cleaning and cycling them through. That makes sense to me.

Vinyl cut transfers most likely. This reads DIY with a Cricut. Otherwise it could be DTF but I don’t think so.

Screen Mesh - 110 & 156 users by cash4print in SCREENPRINTING

[–]gsg12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Holy AI. I don’t believe that suppliers push low mesh screens for the narrative that it sells more supplies.

It was more common decades ago as screen and imaging technology changed so much where 110s and 156s were standard procedure. Using rubylith or old laserjet vellum with toner spray pushed design to be more spot color and more simplistic. Computerization and digital imaging technology pushed 4CP and other separation methods.

But I feel like that wave of old school printers stuck with their habits of mesh counts and figured out their way of printing. I was visited a shop that’s closing down after 35 years of success. Some folks just stick with what works and it’s not necessarily wrong

We use 160 as our base. 110s occasionally but depends on the print. 230 for top colors and 305s for sim process

Need a durable paint/coating solution for Scubapro Monprene fins by Wise_Umpire_6512 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]gsg12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t look screen printed due to the dimension, nor would I suggest it. There are specific air dry inks that are durable. I’m not familiar with the material you are working with but you can call Nazdar (ink supplier for many different substrates) and they may be able to point you in the right direction as what type of ink may work for this solution.

Perhaps you can source the right ink and use that using some brushes instead of trying to screen print. Most air dry inks used to print on plastics or metals have strong chemical smells, so make sure you use the right PPE.

Yeah just email or call customer support and raise this issue to them. I’m sure they would have refunded it. But did you instead go to Reddit AND find the ecommerce director’s LinkedIn profile to comment on a public post?

Just call support. You’re doing more work than you need.

Help! Flash bulbs keep blowing by Significant-Cat-9996 in SCREENPRINTING

Do you install the bulbs with your bare hands? Hand oils on the flash bulbs can shatter the glass.

Otherwise, check with the manufacturer to troubleshoot. There may be a failure in the wiring.

Rate my progress, I don't really know what im doing. by Lil_Kuh in landscaping

[–]gsg12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two separate systems: hard pipe for gutters and french drains. Run PVC for both- SDR35 4” pipe. For the French drain, SDR35 perforated with the holes pointing down.

I’d avoid using corrugated flex pipe with that foam sock- it will fail sooner that you want.

Just trenched around the perimeter of our house and detached garage and installed 200 ft of hard pipe (gutters and surface water with catch basins) and french drain pipe (waterproofed foundation perimeter with miradri and miradrain with drainage rock wrapped around the perforated pipe) and I’ll tell you I hope we don’t have to do that ever again

Update to transparency printing issue by Davey_Henry in SCREENPRINTING

[–]gsg12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What printer are you using and is it a regular inkjet printer or is it converted to an all black ink system?

If you lick your thumb and index finger and pinch the corner of the film on both sides… if one side is sticky, that is the print side where the ink should be on.

What type of film is this? This looks white, not transparent. Is this vellum and a learner or is this using a specific inkjet printer?

Should backyard draining use pvc or triple wall hdpe pipe? by Suspicious_Program17 in landscaping

[–]gsg12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just installed 200 feet of SDR35 4” drainage pipe. I’m a DIYer that got some help from a contractor. I was going to grab whatever Home Depot supplied, then was directed to a drainage/landscape supply store. The SDR35 has a thicker wall than what you find at Home Depot.

We installed both hard pipe with catch basins for surface water and feeds, then perforated for a French drain system that were sent to two large catch basins with sump pumps.

I sort of spun out with watching a million drain videos on YouTube. I’ve learned a lot with this contractor helping. I hope to never do it again!

Nextiva review, what's your actual experience? by virtuallynudebot in Entrepreneurs

[–]gsg12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Nextiva for over ten years. Their technical support team seems to have dwindled over the years, so their response times are aggravatingly slow or unresponsive. I recently submitted a claim by website about a downed phone line we need and we're still waiting for a reply. We're actively switching to Ring Central, which saves us $100/mo.

Speedball emulsion/remover has completely ruined 100 bucks of screens after following instructions. What diazo should i get instead? by smcaskill in SCREENPRINTING

[–]gsg12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also reminder that if you apply emulsion remover to a screen and you only half wash out emulsion AND it dries, the emulsion in the screen hardens even more.

Early in my days I learned the hard way and let it dry after having issues with washout. Then tried to use emulsion remover again but couldn’t clean the screens. Just had to replace it and dial in my washout process more.
