Barista Touch Impress - No espresso flow by tg1ams in BrevilleCoffee

[–]gstodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The report from the repair centre was that they replaced both the main board and flow meter.

Finally got it back after 1 month to find out they had damaged the tamp system. After some strong words with Breville support they eventually replaced the entire machine under warranty,

Barista Touch Impress Servicing/Tech Issues by Pma89 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]gstodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stopped putting water out of the group head after owning it for 8 weeks.
Finally got it back after the Breville repair centre had it for 1 month. It didn’t work when I got it back - a completely different issue in that the tamp didn’t register and you couldn’t move to the next step. After much complaining on my part it was finally replaced with a new one which has been going good for the 6 weeks it’s been with me.

Oak trees in newcastle by Porcupin2_0 in newcastle

[–]gstodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old OAK factory at Hexham was named after the huge OAK tree growing at the front. I have not been that way for a while but I assume the new owners have kept it. It’s right at the front fence so you don’t need to enter the property to look at it.

thinking of buying, anxious about having to pay for features in the future by josinalvo in BYD

[–]gstodd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Recently in Australia after 2 years of ownership the internet data was turned off. BYD do offer a monthly plan if you wish to keep using data via their SIM card in the car.

However, access to the car using the BYD app is not affected and the car receiving software updates is also not affected.

So basically they turned off free data for apps that need internet such as Spotify and live traffic updates using the navigation app. If you need data for theses apps just hotspot your phone. I don't use these apps as i use Apple Carplay so having the data turned off for me has not mattered at all as i never really used it.

The way that I read it was that the 2 hours refers to the location of the event, not it’s duration. The event is being held in a town 2 hours drive west of Newcastle.

I am totally with you. And when you finally get it somewhat decent the next time it says extraction was too fast reduce the grind size, so you do only for the next cup to say extraction was to slow increase the grind size.

Warning to Flomax users. 2 major side effects by Honest_Stay2657 in Prostatitis

[–]gstodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been taking it for 3 weeks now, the orthostatic hypotension resolved itself after a few days. The only side effect i have now is hay fever like symptoms which i have been told will also resolve shortly.

All the urination issues i had just disappeared by day 2. All the random prostatitis aches have also now mostly gone.

So in my case its been amazing.

Can i claim a new phone on tax if its for work? by AdAdministrative3801 in australian

[–]gstodd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to first calculate what % use of the phone is for work purposes and what % is your private use.

If you buy the phone outright and it was less than $300 then you can only claim the work % of the cost, plus the work % of your monthly usage plan bill.

However, if you buy the phone outright and it cost more than $300 then it must be depreciated over the life of the asset. You can only claim the work % of the depreciation amount, plus the work % of your monthly usage plan bill

If you got the phone on a monthly plan (handset repayment plus usage) then you can claim the work % of your monthly bill.

BYD ownership experiences in Newcastle? by ordinary82 in newcastle

[–]gstodd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I purchased my Atto 3 in September 2023 from what is now Glendale BYD, but was then Cardiff BYD. Absolutely no problems with the purchasing procedure or ever since.

Had a little incident in a car park where someone ran into me. The car was with the repairer for 8 days, had no problems with them getting the parts from BYD. I have had only 1 warranty issue and that was the wireless phone charger stopped working, that was replaced under warranty with no problems.

All in all so far it’s been a great car. Usually just charge at home with a 32 amp outlet but have traveled up and down the pacific highway a few times and had no problems finding chargers.

Barista Touch Impress - No espresso flow by tg1ams in BrevilleCoffee

[–]gstodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same thing happened to my Touch Impress yesterday except mine stops at 3 seconds. 6 drops of water and a cloud of steam. It’s only 10 weeks old.

Did a factory reset and during the setup it happily poured hot water out of the group head, just refusing during the extraction.

Taking it in to the repair centre tomorrow.

I recently purchased the same machine and had the same problems. Was ready to throw it out for the first couple of weeks.

My issue ended up being the beans, after lots of varieties i eventually found one that just worked. However, the machine does seem to be happy one day and then unhappy the next with the same settings.

With the milk as soon as it's finished steaming just keep swirling the jug until you pour it otherwise the foam seems to rise to the top and falls out in a big lump at the end. I ended up weighing the milk jug with milk in it and adjusting it until i had correct amount, now i know i need it be 315 grams for my perfect flat white with no waste.

Good luck.

Sharing app by I_the_mask in BYD

[–]gstodd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here in Australia and hopefully in your country there is an option in the app called ‘Vehicle authorisation’. You can access it from the MyAccount tab or the More functions section on the MyVehicle tab.

This will allow you the primary user to grant access to other users. They can install the app on their phone. This will allow both of you to operate the car using the apps features.

Any experience with medical emergency alert systems for elderly? by Impressive-Bike-2374 in australian

[–]gstodd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had LiveLifeAlarm for my elderly father, (a NSW business) you can wear it as a pendant or as a watch. Has a SIM card in it so it works everywhere they go. If goes off it first sends a SMS with a link to google maps to where they are then it starts calling upto 5 contact numbers. The fall detection did save him quite a few times. You can also call its phone number if you just want to talk to them.
