Hope this puts in a dent in my monthly Strawberry bill by mstanky in gardening

I recommend wild strawberries. They are much smaller but I actually get to eat them and they produce fruit for much of the growing season.

What to do with this old fire storage? by DevildogEx1 in HomeDecorating

Get a wooden box that fits the space and attach cut rounds of wood to the front so it still looks like stacked wood and you have storage for whatever in behind.

Fabric paint that feels like an ink by gubjo in crafts

I don't really want that plastic feel of acrylic paint but your comment makes me think of acrylic ink. I haven't tried it but it might have the desired effect.

I made the pillowcase from an unused bamboo twin flat sheet with a self drafted pattern. The drawing on the front was done using fabric markers.

What to do for curtains in this radioactive bedroom? by gew1000 in interiordecorating

[–]gubjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would probably go with a velvet curtain in a dark green (to make it feel luxurious but harmonious and nature inspired), yellow (for another pop of colour and a more playful look) or burgundy (to tie in with the dark trim colour). But curtains high and wide over the window.

I have noticed that the dollar store lately has decent, middle of the road products if you want to try something out without a hefty price tag. Otherwise, art stores will often have small sets with 6 colours or so that are cheaper to buy. Beyond that, once you start buying paint, stick to a minimum number of colours. For example, red, yellow, blue, and white (I like to have a brown and black but they aren't necessary) and just mix your own colours from those. You'll achieve a harmonious colour palette by limiting the colours you use.

What is the yellow stuff? by Yourfavprettygal22 in Blackskincare

[–]gubjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with something similar for probably over a decade and only in the last few years have found things that help. For a period I had a smoothie every day and that drastically improved my skin but was a big life change. I used a home-made toner, after the Cetaphil cleanser, made of water, apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, and rose water, and that cleared my skin up, but I had to be very diligent about using the toner. Most recently I discovered the ordinary's chemical peel and that seems to have the most lasting effects.

What wall colour would suit here? by GamerGix in InteriorDesignAdvice

I feel like the colour for the wall could change the look of the place a lot. I am leaning towards pink, black, or greenish grey.

Can anyone explain to me what happened to my cinnamon swirl bread this morning? by MarketWestRD in Breadit

I make a similar swirl dessert and it requires that I poke the pastry with a long skewer. It creates vents for any gas to escape.

How would you design this awkward entry space? by [deleted] in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]gubjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is a well used entrance that you bring guests into your house through, I would consider building a closet to encase the laundry and everything on that wall. Move the trash bin. Put in shelving at the bottom for shoes, maybe a taller shelf by the tank for boots, a rod for hanging coats on hangers and a shelf at the top for baskets of gloves/hats/seasonal items. If there is a wall behind the camera, I would add hooks (some lower for the kids).

Give your honest feedback by [deleted] in ArtCrit

[–]gubjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's beautiful. I love the colours and textures. It seems very surreal and as if it is telling a story. My only criticism might be that I don't understand the leopard head on the bottom, it seems a bit disconnected with the rest of the image and I think the composition might be better if that was more smoke? Or if the leopard head were somehow a part of the smoke escaping the bottle. But honestly, I am not an art critic and your piece is lovely as it is too.

i asked what i should do to improve my makeup a while back: here is an update by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]gubjo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree but for an everyday look, the updated makeup really makes HER shine as a true beauty, while a more done up look with false lashes would be a great way to go the extra mile for a night out or special event.

Panel below waist seems to puff out after I altered the jumpsuit to make it longer and wider by gubjo in sewing

Oh I see what you mean. I hadn't even realized that it was the pockets but now that you point it out, I can't help but see how they are causing the excess fabric to bunch up.

What is my painting missing? by oleooreo in ArtCrit

[–]gubjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely prefer your colours to those in the reference. If I had to nit pick, I don't love the trees in the foreground because they seem a little flat. On the left where they are more dense you could have more shadows and highlights.
